1. FC Saarbrücken Tischtennis ready for 2025 cup final
Saturday (4 January 2025) brings 1. FC Saarbrücken Tischtennis’s first major highlight of the year: the Liebherr Cup final four at the ratiopharm arena Ulm/Neu-Ulm. Four top teams from the Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL) will be competing for the sought-after German table tennis cup. As well as FCS TT, this will feature TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen, SV Werder Bremen and TTC OE Bad Homburg.
The Saarland team are heading into the tournament with plenty of confidence, having won their final match of 2024 against TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell. In the semi-final, FCS TT will face SV Werder Bremen, who boast two top international players in their ranks in the form of Mattias Falck and Kirill Gerassimenko. We can expect an exciting duel, with Patrick Franziska and Darko Jorgic spearheading the Saarbrücken Team. Yuto Muramatsu, Eduard Ionescu and Cedric Meissner will be contributing their cumulative experience and skill to complete the quick-witted squad. The team from Saarland, headed by coach Wang Zhi, are perfectly prepared and motivated.
It all begins on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the semi-final, which will take place simultaneously across two tables. This will be followed be a short turnaround and then the final title showdown on the centre court.
If FCS TT successfully make it through their semi-final, they will be facing either TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen or TTC OE Bad Homburg in the final. In recent years, the Saarland team have proven time and again that they are able to hold their own against top opponents and win the cup. They previously secured the title in 2012 and 2022.
We are crossing our fingers for 1. FC Saarbrücken Tischtennis and wish them every success for the first highlight of 2025. We hope the team will be able to celebrate their third cup win in the club’s history!
