A historic win!

Our Elv have been on the verge of victory several times in their first few games, and last Sunday in Osnabrück finally achieved the first second-league win in SV Elversberg’s history.
The time has finally come – SV Elversberg have made history and won their first game in the 2. Bundesliga. It was hard work for our boys: in the duel of the promoted teams against VfL Osnabrück, joker Wahid Faghir scored the historic goal for our Elv in the 79th minute, assisted by 17-year-old Paul Wanner, who arrived on loan from FC Bayern shortly before the transfer deadline.
Coach Horst Steffen emphasised the relief felt after the game: ‘I am delighted for the team that their efforts have finally paid off.’
Otherwise it was an equally-matched game, with VfL claiming more of the play. Nevertheless, SVE fought back and ultimately secured a historic win. And this was crucial, as the international cap break is coming up.
Our Elv stand in 15th place in the table after five days of play. After the hiatus for the national team, none other than league leader Hamburger SV will be coming to the URSAPHARM Arena on Kaiserlinde in Elversberg. This will be a firecracker of a game, standing out among all of the highlights that this particular season has to offer. Our Elv and their coaching team will approach this game well-rested with a victory under their belts. We have finally arrived in the 2. Bundesliga.
