German gymnastics team ready for home European Championships in Leipzig

Germany’s team for the 2025 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships!

The 2025 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships are just around the corner: Leipzig will shine the spotlight on European gymnastics from 26 to 31 May. The European Championships are being held as part of the International German Gymnastics Festival, which expects to welcome up to 80,000 participants and will be transforming the city into a real hub of gymnastics.

For the German gymnastics team, these home European Championships are a very special opportunity to demonstrate their skill in front of a home crowd and compete for medals. The female gymnast lineup was announced on Monday and now the men’s team has also been nominated.

Women’s team nominations

After two successful qualifications, the German Gymnastics Association (DTB) nominated the following athletes for the European Championships:

  • Helen Kevric (MTV Stuttgart)
  • Janoah Müller (TSG Haßloch)
  • Lea Quaas (TuS Chemnitz-Altendorf)
  • Karina Schönmaier (TuS Chemnitz-Altendorf)
  • Silja Stöhr (SG Heddesheim)

Alternates:

  • Marlene Gotthardt (MTV Stuttgart)
  • Lisa Wötzel (TuS Chemnitz-Altendorf)

Head coach Gerben Wiersma is optimistic:

We want to finish in the top five teams and qualify for the mixed team final. We will also be trying to achieve at least one final spot in the all-around competition and a final spot in the apparatus finals.

Men’s team nominations

The names of the men who will be representing Germany have now also been announced:

  • Nils Dunkel (SV Halle)
  • Timo Eder (MTV Ludwigsburg)
  • Milan Hosseini (TG Böckingen)
  • Dario Sissakis (SC Berlin)
  • Andreas Toba (TK Hannover)

An alternate will also be nominated.

Head coach Jens Milbradt took a critical view of the qualifications:

Our gymnasts are trending upwards, but we need to do more work on stability.

Preparations have been marred by injury problems and the team is also undergoing a generation change. Nevertheless, Milbradt is ready for the fight:

Our aim is to finish in the top eight teams and appear in both the all-around final and the mixed team final.

The European Artistic Gymnastics Championships promise some top-quality competitions with more than 300 gymnasts from 38 countries. Leipzig will become the setting for one of the most important gymnastic events of the year.

We wish our gymnasts much success in competing for continental titles and are looking forward to exciting competitions, impressive performances and breathtaking moments!
