HYLO® Team Saar comes second at Bundesliga premiere in Dresden

For the first time ever, Dresden’s historic old town became the setting for a 1. Bitburger 0.0% Triathlon-Bundesliga race. The competition was in the sprint distance (750-metre swim, 20.5-kilometre cycle, 5,000-metre run) and HYLO® Team Saar managed to secure second place.

Chris Ziehmer, Justus Nieschlag, Jaspar Ortfeld, Olympic competitor Emil Holm (DEN) and Harry Leleu (GBR) lined up at the start of the swim in an Elbe harbour.

After the swim, the route wended its way 2.7 km to Dresden’s old town, where it completed five 3.5-kilometre laps alongside the Elbe.

The 5-kilometre run, consisting of two laps, headed to the Frauenkirche before finishing in front of the opera house. Holm had the best changeover into running shoes and was the first to hit the running course, with Nieschlag and Ziehmer close behind. Danish competitor Holm ultimately crossed the finish line in fourth, followed by Nieschlag in eighth and Ziehmer in tenth. Due to what was ultimately a significant gap during the cycling section, Leleu crossed the finish line in 39th place and Ortfeld in 42nd. An overall place score of 59 (the total of the four best-placed athletes) was enough to put the team in second place in the daily rankings.

Pusch-Data-Team AST Süßen were the winning team in Dresden, and DSW Darmstadt occupied the remaining spot on the podium.

We can now expect maximum excitement at the final 1. Bitburger 0.0% Triathlon-Bundesliga competition in Hanover (7-8/09/2024), which will also see the German championship individual title (elite/U23) and the mixed team relay championship title being awarded. In the overall team table, the team from Süßen is just one point ahead of their Darmstadt opponents, who are level pegging with HYLO® Team Saar.

In the women’s race, Tanja Neubert secured the daily win for the club SG TSV Viernheim/Saar.
