Pure anticipation!

This Friday sees another very special match: SV Elversberg is facing 1. FC Kaiserslautern in Betzenberg.

There is always another game – or more accurately, there is always another highlight. Like this Friday, which for the first time in the history of the 2. Bundesliga sees 1. FC Lauserslauten playing SV Elversberg. Anticipation is palpable, but the aim is also to achieve something genuine in Betzenberg.

’This meeting is a great thing for all of us, and that’s exactly how we are going to approach it’, Horst Steffen explains, adding: ‘Despite all of the anticipation, we will not be letting our opponents get their way. We want to show off our game and will have to be very careful in doing so.’ The fact that FCK still has not gained any points after two league games is not important to Steffen. ‘I am never ready to take stock after just two games’, the SVE coach says, ‘especially since our two opponents were Schalke and St. Pauli, who are absolutely two of the favourites to win the league’. In any case, Horst Steffen is remaining ‘on top of things’ that could affect his Elv: ‘We will see what Dirk Schuster offers up with his team and how they act. We want to play well and seek out solutions, but in defence and the build-up’, Steffen noted at the press conference.

In terms of players, the current outlook is: this game is still too early for Dominik Martinovic, and Frederik Jäkel is in team training. Marcel Correia, who was substituted off with an injury in the last cup match, is also not expected to be available. Otherwise, all team members are on board. So we are all set: off to Betzenberg we go!
