SVE focusing on season’s final push

Thanks to the position they have managed to play themselves into, SV Elversberg can be a little more relaxed as they journey to meet SC Paderborn – but Horst Steffen is keeping concentration levels high.

The secret is in the mix: SV Elversberg are travelling to Paderborn to meet Lukas Kwasniok’s team with 40 points under their belt – and will be seeking to gain more with a blend of ease and tension. ‘Sometimes it takes some tension, and I want to keep levels correspondingly high. It is a fine line – we want to play freely but with concentration and focus. Being able to do both is what Paderborn will be about. We are athletes, we want to play well in every game and inspire our fans’, Horst Steffen noted in the press conference before the game.

The high tension is also down to their opponent (SCP’s play under Kwasniok has been varying and will call on SVE‘s very best), especially as they are also coming into the game with the wind in their sails: ‘Paderborn will demand a lot of us, they are very flexible and always manage to adapt to their opponents. I am excited to see what they bring to the pitch and how we will play against it’, Steffen added. So it will be important to make use of the chances offered: ‘We must use the opportunities that present themselves – and conversely, defend well and allow few opportunities to our opponents. If all of that comes together, we can win the game.’
