SVE secures three points against last-placed Osnabrück

SV Elversberg made short work of VfL Osnabrück with eight very strong minutes, ultimately gaining a well-deserved 3:1 win.
The starting whistle for SV Elversberg’s home game was supposed to be at 1:30 p.m., but the ball did not start rolling until 1:46 p.m. – kick-off was delayed by quarter of an hour as the net was damaged by the Osnabrück fans and needed to be repaired. Shortly afterwards, numerous tennis balls were thrown onto the pitch by Osnabrück fans in protest against potential investment from DFL, before the match was finally able to get underway.
The path of the game quickly became clear. To begin with, both teams had a few half-chances – but then things started coming thick and fast. Rochelt to Feil – 1:0. Two minutes later, Rochelt again, this time to Vandermersch – 2:0. 3:0 went the same way: Rochelt hit the post and Wanner nailed the ball under the crossbar to bring the goal tally to three. From this point onwards, the game was over: Osnabrück managed to pull one goal back, but never really posed any danger to SVE.
Uwe Koschinat expressed his respect for SVE after the game: ‘I can only congratulate everyone working here on what they have achieved. We hoped to reign in their quality of play a little today, but that didn’t happen.’ Horst Steffen was of course very satisfied with his team after the match: ‘We played a tidy game, the first goal opened the door and then we kept attacking right through to the end.’
This weekend, SVE will be heading to Hamburg to play Hamburger SV – another highlight.
