SVE seeking a fresh outlook for their lasthome game of the year

SV Elversberg faces 1. FC Nürnberg on Sunday for a home game. They will be wanting to put their away defeat in Berlin behind them.

Things in Berlin were cold and ultimately bitter: after a good start, they were eventually decisively beaten 1:5 by Hertha BSC. This Sunday, the Nuremberg team are being hosted at the URSAPHARM Arena – and things should definitely turn out much better.
It would seem that the Nuremberg side have arrived at just the right time: after two hefty defeats in the Bundesliga, the team was also deservedly eliminated from the DFB cup by 1. FC Kaiserslautern during the week. But SVE should remember that wounded animals are often the most dangerous. Coach Christian Fiel’s team has been particularly strong during away matches this season.

These include a 2:0 away win over the top-placed Kiel team – FCN also won 1:3 in Paderborn, before suffering a proper 1:4 thrashing at their last away game in Karlsruhe. This was followed by a 0:5 defeat to Karlsruhe at home,

so this weekend sees a meeting between two teams who both conceded plenty of goals in their last 2. Bundesliga match. But SVE can draw courage from the fact that their appearance in Berlin was not all bad: things could have gone very differently, and the players under coach Horst Steffen were particularly impressive during the opening stages. Sunday will show which team has recovered best from last weekend’s antics.
