The Dobermann defending his world title
On Saturday (17 May 2025), Karmelenberghalle in Koblenz will play host to a thrilling boxing showdown: Jürgen Doberstein, the reigning Global Boxing Council (GBC) world super middleweight champion, will be defending his title. The Saarland athlete faces 27-year-old Hamisi Ayoub Maya, better known as ‘The African Beast’. This Tanzanian boxer has already demonstrated with 14 knockouts that he is an opponent who should be taken seriously, and will pose a genuine challenge for Doberstein.
However, the world champion is fully prepared and brimming with fighting spirit:
I am looking forward to stepping into the ring in Koblenz to defend my title. I have been training intensively over the last few months and am in top form. Every fight is a new challenge for me and I always take my opponents very seriously. However, I am sure that my opponents also take me seriously. My aim is to defend my title, continue forging forward and give my fans an exciting fight. I will do my utmost to emerge as the winner once again.
His manager Michael Schultheis is also confident and highlighted the intensive preparations:
We created an ideal training environment for Jürgen where he could ensure professional preparations for this world championship fight. Jürgen is on fantastically top form and has worked hard over the last few months to be perfectly prepared for this fight. We know that Maya is a strong challenger, but we are sure that Jürgen’s experience and skill will come into play.
