What’s new from the HYLO® Sport family

Our #hyloathletes have been very active once again this week. We take a look back at the last seven days’ events and competitions featuring our athletes, teams and clubs.

Exciting draw between SVE and KSC

On Friday (31 January 2025), SV Elversberg welcomed Karlsruher SC to the URSAPHARM Arena on Kaiserlinde for the twentieth day of play in the 2. Bundesliga. In front of 10,102 spectators, SVE led much of the floodlit game 2:0, but ultimately had to make do with a 2:2 draw.

Lukas Petkov put the home team in the lead shortly before half time and Carlo Sickinger increased the scoreline to 2:0 with a penalty. Despite numerous opportunities, Elversberg failed to clinch a decisive third goal, and KSC were able to equalise with two late goals by Marvin Wanitzek.

Nevertheless, coach Horst Steffen seemed satisfied with his team’s performance:

We played a good Karlsruhe team today and let almost nothing through, then were rather unlucky to concede goals.

This result keeps SV Elversberg in ninth place in the table with 29 points. More details of the match can be found in our news report

On Saturday (8 February), SVE are playing away against SV Darmstadt 98. The team will be doing all they can to gain three points at Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor and improve their position in the table.

Gripping game: Royals lose in extra time

On Saturday (1 February 2025), Saarlouis Royals faced SYNTAINICS MBC in Halle for an exciting 1. Damen Basketball-Bundesliga (DBBL) match. Saarlouis were only defeated in extra time. Despite the defeat, they remain safely in third place in the table, as GiroLive Panthers from Osnabrück (the next team down) also lost their match.

The game began with River Baldwin scoring some quick points for SYNTAINICS MBC. Magaly Meynadier gained the Royals’s first points with a three-pointer. The first quarter ended with a Saarlouis slightly in the lead (14:17). The Royals extended their lead in the second quarter, but Halle clung on and shortened things to 35:36 by half time.

After half time, the lead changed hands numerous times, with the third quarter ending 50:53 to Saarlouis. In the final quarter, both teams fought doggedly, and Taylah Simmons put Halle in the lead with a three-pointer. The Royals equalised just before the end, forcing extra time.

Things were very evenly matched in overtime, until River Baldwin gained a crucial lead for Halle with an and-one. The Royals tried in vain to score another basket and regain possession through fouls, but Halle secured the win.

The quarter scores:

Q1 14:17Q2 21:19Q3 15:17Q4 22:19Final score 87:82

Now that this day of play is over, we are heading into the international break until 10 February 2025. Next up in the DBBL, Saarlouis Royals have an away game on 15 February 2025 at 7 p.m., which sees them facing Eigner Angels Nördlingen.
