What’s new from the HYLO® Sport family

Another successful week for our #hyloathletes is behind us. We take a look back at the last seven days’ events and competitions featuring our athletes, teams and clubs.
FCS Tischtennis: a week brimming with good results
1. FC Saarbrücken Tischtennis can look back on a successful week. On Friday (14 February 2025), the Saarbrücken team achieved a convincing 3:0 Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL) home win against ASC Grünwettersbach, preserving their chances of reaching the Bundesliga playoffs.
Just two days later on Sunday (16 February), their 3:0 victory in their second-leg match against GV Hennebont of France secured them entry into the Champions League final four, which (as in 2024) will be held at the Saarlandhalle. FCS Tischtennis could win the Champions League title for the third year in a row in front of a home crowd at the finals in late May.
In addition, team captain Patrick Franziska extended his contract to 2029, giving the team and club further momentum and optimism for the future. ‘FCS Tischtennis is my club, I’m very happy here’, Franziska explained.

SV Elversberg consolidate position with 2:0 win
On Saturday (15 February 2025), SV Elversberg gained an impressive 2:0 home win in a 2. Bundesliga match against SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the URSAPHARM Arena.
Fisnik Asllani put the away team in the lead six minutes in after lovely combination play. Shortly before half time, Carlo Sickinger increased the scoreline to 2:0 with a long-range shot. Thanks to a well-organised defence and confident team performance, SVE also did not concede any goals in the second half and defended their lead right through to the final whistle.
This second win in a row puts SV Elversberg up to 35 points and consolidates their position in seventh place in the table. Horst Steffen sounded satisfied: ‘It was a well balanced game, and when there was an opportunity to make it 1:0, we did. After that, I still felt like we could score a second goal. Ultimately we gained a confident win, if that is what you want to call it.’
More details about SVE‘s week can be found in our news report.
This week SV Elversberg will be facing SSV Ulm, who are one spot off the bottom of the table.
Exciting week and mixed results for Füchse Berlin
Füchse Berlin put in strong performances in both the Machineseeker EHF Champions League and the DAIKIN Handball-Bundesliga this week. On Thursday (13 February 2025), the Berlin team triumphed against Fredericia HK from Denmark in a thrilling Champions League duel. With top scorer Lasse Andersson (12 goals) and Mathias Gidsel (8 goals), Füchse prevailed 36:29 (18:14) to secure vital points for entry to the quarter-finals. This means that they have now also secured a definitive spot in the playoffs.
Just three days later on Sunday (16 February), Füchse faced TBV Lemgo Lippe in a Handball-Bundesliga (HBL) away game and battled their way to an exciting 25:25 draw. Despite an impressive performance by Dejan Milosavljev, who saved three penalties and saw off a total of ten TBV shots, this was ultimately not enough to secure a win. Mathias Gidsel once again shone with nine goals, whilst Nils Lichtlein had the most assists at four. The points gained keep Füchse within shouting distance of the top of the table, although they narrowly had to relinquish their second-place spot to TSV Hannover-Burgdorf.
Nevertheless, Jaron Siewert sounded optimistic: ‘When we went three up in the 52nd minute, we set ourselves the target of seeing things through and taking two points home. However, we should be happy with our point, as Lemgo had the last attack.’
Things continue on Thursday for Füchse Berlin with an away game against Orlen Wisła Płock in the Champions League, before they host SG Flensburg-Handewitt at the Max-Schmeling-Halle on Sunday for a top match.
Gripping away win for Saarlouis Royals in Nördlingen
On 15 February 2025, the Saarlouis Royals faced Eigner Angels Nördlingen for an exciting Damen-Basketball-Bundesliga (DBBL) away game. In a dramatic finish, the Royals showed their nerve to win the match 67:64.
Their Nördlingen hosts launched a 7:0 start, but the Royals fought back and reduced the lead to 19:21 by the end of the first quarter. The match remained hard-fought in the second quarter, with the scoreline putting the Saarlouis Royals just 30:35 behind by half-time.
The Royals were able to continue reducing this gap in the second half. Victoria Majekodunmi and Hayley Frank in particular scored vital three-pointers, meaning that the score at the end of the third quarter was 49:51. The Royals finally took the lead in the last quarter thanks to Gabija Meškonytė. Despite a chaotic final stage and various changes of lead, the Saarlouis Royals held their nerve and secured a vital away victory.
The quarter scores:
| Q1 21:19 | Q2 14:11 | Q3 16:19 | Q4 13:18 | Final score 64:67 |
This 13th win in 19 games keeps the Royals in third place in the table.
On Sunday (23 February), the Saarlouis Royals are hosting Medical Instinct Veilchen BG74 of Göttingen for their final home game of the main season.
proWIN Volleys secure vital away win in Munich
On Sunday (16 February 2025), proWIN Volleys TV Holz faced TSV Turnerbund München for a 2. Damen Volleyball-Bundesliga Süd match. proWIN Volleys were able to win the away game 3:1 (25:15, 19:25, 22:25, 22:25) and thus secure vital league points.
Despite a hugely depleted squad with just seven players, TV Holz put in an impressive performance and took control of the match early on. Victoria Majekodunmi and Alice Turmovich in particular contributed crucial points, whilst the hosts struggled to gain a foothold.
This win puts proWIN Volleys in eighth place, safely in the middle of the table, with 26 points.
proWIN Volleys’s next game is on Saturday (22 February) at their home venue of Sportcampus Saar, against table leaders TV Planegg-Krailling.
