An away win with an impact: SVE back on victorious track
On Sunday (23 November 2025), SV Elversberg headed off for an away game against Karlsruher SC at Wildparkstadion. After four matches without a win before the international break, the team came back in impressive form to celebrate a 3:2 away win that put them back in third place in the 2. Bundesliga.
SVE dominated for much of the match, carved out numerous opportunities and took the lead early on thanks to Younes Ebnoutalib. A lovely shot by Lukas Petkov put things at 2:1 then Felix Keidel scored the crucial goal in stoppage time to make the final score 3:2. KSC’s manager Christian Eichner had to acknowledge: ‘The clearly superior, notably better team who were more alert, clear and wanted it more – they won the match. 3:2 was a lucky break.’
Elversberg showed their best side in Karlsruhe: ball possession, control, clear transitions and stability after setbacks. This success has given the team a boost of self-confidence and kept them at the top end of the table.

More details of the match can be found in our post-match report on HYLO® News.
This Sunday brings a home game against Darmstadt 98. A win in the URSAPHARM Arena could put the team in a good position in the battle for the top.
Saarbrücken stay on track in the TTBL and reach the final four
1. FC Saarbrücken Tischtennis faced a doubly difficult task in the league and the cup this week: Saarland had to prove their strength twice in 48 hours.
First off, the team faced TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau for a TTBL match on Sunday (23 November 2025). Saarland were unstoppable at the Sporthalle Zugbrücke in Höhr-Grenzhausen and clearly won 3:0. FCS demonstrated their skill in impressive form with wins for Yuto Muramatsu, Patrick Franziska and Cedric Meissner.
A detailed report on the league match can be found at HYLO® News.
A win is a win. The cup has its own rules, as they say.
Patrick Franziska
Just a day later, on Monday evening, they were up against second-division team SV Union Velbert for the cup quarter-final. Sporthalle Birth played host to an exciting duel that came down to the final doubles match. Young talent Wim Verdonschot temporarily put the home team in the lead and then level-pegging thanks to defeats of Eduard Ionescu and Darko Jorgic, setting the mood in the hall alight. However, Franziska and Ionescu held their nerve in the final doubles match and secured a spot in the Liebherr Cup final four with a 3:1 win.
‘A win is a win. The cup has its own rules, as they say’, was Patrick Franziska’s summary of the evening.
FCS can look back at a successful week, with a confident league away win and a hard-fought cup comeback. Things continue on Sunday 14 December 2025 at 2 p.m. with a home game against TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen, which promises to be another top duel.
TG Saar reach DTL finals
On Saturday (22 November 2025), TG Saar welcomed Eintracht Frankfurt to the Kreissporthalle Dillingen for their last home fixture of the main Deutsche Turn Liga (DTL) season. Saarland put in a focused, cohesive performance in front of a home crowd and secured a clear 41:14 win.
The team laid the foundations for their success on the floor, then subsequently also won the pommel horse and rings apparatus. After the break, TG Saar also impressed on the vault and horizontal bar, where they secured the final win with a 9:0. The only apparatus where the points were split was the parallel bars. The standouts were Artem Dolgopyat, Felix Remuta and Ilia Liubimov, who contributed eight points each to the total to become the top scorers of the evening.
This result secured TG Saar third place in the table and thus a spot in the DTL finals. Saturday 29 November 2025 at SNP Dome in Heidelberg will bring the playoff match against SC Cottbus for the bronze medal. The Saarland team will be heading to this medal showdown with a boost of confidence.
Two wins in quick succession for Füchse Berlin
On Thursday evening (20 November 2025), Füchse Berlin played host to Sporting CP for an exciting Machineseeker EHF Champions League home game in the Max-Schmeling-Halle. The German champions prevailed 33:29 (16:13) to secure the top spot in Group A. Goalkeeper Lasse Ludwig served as a solid backbone with 16 saves whilst Lasse Andersson was the top scorer with nine goals.
Just three days later on Sunday (23 November), they faced Rhein-Neckar Löwen for a DAIKIN Handball-Bundesliga away game. A intense duel emerged in the SAP Arena, which the Berlin team clinched 33:30 (15:15). The match winner was once again Mathias Gidsel, who scored twelve goals despite suffering from gastroenteritis. Goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev also shone with 13 saves. After the match, coach Nicolej Krickau praised the fair actions of Löwen’s pivot player Jannik Kohlbacher, who had an unjustified penalty against Max Darj rescinded – an example of sportsmanship in a close match.
Füchse Berlin have proven their strength on both an international and a national level with two wins in close succession. Things continue on Thursday (27 November) with a home game against Veszprém in the Champions League, then a Bundesliga fixture against TBV Lemgo Lippe on Sunday (30 November). The capital club will be seeking to carry forward the momentum gained from their recent successes.
HG Saarlouis beat Gelnhausen in top match
On Saturday (22 November 2025), Stadtgartenhalle in Saarlouis played host to a genuine handball fest. In front of a sold-out crowd, HG Saarlouis beat previously undefeated TV Gelnhausen 30:26 (15:11) in a top 3. Liga duel. The match offered 60 minutes of top-level excitement and fighting spirit – with the home team ultimately celebrating a well-earned win.
Both coaches sounded happy after the game: Matthias Geiger praised his team’s mindset and refusal to give up, whilst Jörg Lützelberger highlighted how his players had developed. One particularly pleasing element was the involvement of young talent Janus Kubera, who scored his first two third-division goals.
The win was the result of a cohesive team performance. Michel Fiedler shone with eleven saves, whilst Yves Kunkel (7 goals), Sven Eberlein (5), Tom Paetow (4) and Lars Weißgerber (4) shaped the attacking end of things. The Saarland team made their mark early on, establishing a four-goal lead several times and holding it through to the crucial stages. When Gelnhausen closed the gap to two goals shortly before the end, old hands Weißgerber and Kunkel sealed the deal.
This win keeps HG Saarlouis in the top three in the table, taking them into the last three matches before Christmas with the wind in their sails. First up on 6 December is an away game against TuS Opladen, followed by a Saarland derby in Homburg on 13 December. They round out the year by welcoming Opladen to Saarlouis on 20 December, before the league takes a break until mid-January.
Historic start to the season for Saarlouis Royals
Sunday (23 November 2025) brought a fantastic basketball atmosphere to Freiburg – and the Saarlouis Royals took the opportunity to chalk up their next success. The Saarland team continued their winning streak at the Universitäts-Sportzentrum Halle 2 with a confident 85:67 victory. This saw the German cup winners and championship runners-up secure a historic 8:0 start to the Toyota DBBL season – the Royals remain unbeaten at the top of the table.
Head coach Matiss Rozlapa ensured his team were perfectly prepared. The Royals controlled much of the match, played with focus, and consistently exploited their strengths. Once again, their cohesive teamwork was particularly striking: compact defence, variable attacks – a blend that left Freiburg with few opportunities. Despite tight rotation, the Royals left no doubt that they remain solid at this point in the season.
As well as this sporting success, there was also some staffing news: Luize Silla’s contract was terminated by mutual agreement due to a long-term injury. The club wishes its player a quick, full recovery.
Attentions are now turning to a trailblazing week at the Stadtgartenhalle. On Wednesday (26 November), the Royals are playing host to TTC Riga for a EuroCup Women match, before Sunday (30 November) brings a league duel against Rutronik Stars Keltern – one of the big favourites for the championship. After a strong performance in Freiburg, the Royals will be hoping for the support of a sold-out crowd to help them tackle these challenges with determination.
proWIN Volleys lose to Karlsruhe-Beiertheim
A lively evening at the Multifunktionssporthalle Saarbrücken ended in defeat for proWIN Volleys TV Holz. On Saturday (22 November 2025), the Saarland team lost 0:3 (19:25, 21:25, 23:25) to SV Karlsruhe-Beiertheim in a 2. Bundesliga Frauen Süd duel. Despite significantly improving their performance as the match went on, the home team were ultimately defeated.
The encounter began with a strong run from the away team, putting the Volleys’ receiving under pressure early on and taking the first set 25:19. Holz were more solid in the second set, held their own for a long period and kept the match open, but Karlsruhe held their nerve better in crucial rallies and won 25:21. The third set ultimately became the most exciting: after an evenly balanced run to 18:18, the Volleys battled hard to 23:24 but were ultimately narrowly beaten 23:25.
Nadin Janin Murad (#17) was named the most valuable player for the Volleys. Despite the defeat, the team showed a clear upward trend and came back fighting.
Things continue for the proWIN Volleys on Saturday (29 November) with an away game against München-Ost. The team will be seeking to continue their positive development and collect valuable points.
KSV Köllerbach still in running for playoff spots
KSV Köllerbach put in a cohesive performance in the lively setting of their home venue Kyllberghalle on Saturday (22 November 2025), leaving few opportunities for the visiting Freiburg team. This Bundesliga duel against RKG Freiburg 2000 saw Saarland win 27:9 to reinforce their playoff ambitions.
Although Florian Zimmer was given an early setback in the 61kg class, Saarland then dominated proceedings.
- Oleksandr Khotsianivskyi equalised with a quick win by fall in the heavyweight category.
- Valentin Seimetz continued the streak with a win in the 66kg freestyle, also by fall.
- Hayk Khloyan (98kg Greco) and Hayk Melikyan (71kg) impressed with clear wins from technically superior performances.
- Vasyl Mykhailov and Andriy Shyyka extended the lead further after the break.
- The fastest fight of the evening was provided by Vasile Taran, who won his 80Bkg Greco duel 15:0 after just over a minute.
The home team managed to win the last two fights, but this had no impact on the final result. Team leader Thomas Geid sounded happy: ‘We did not want to underestimate Freiburg and brought our top team. Of course, we are happy about the clear win and being a step closer to the playoffs.’
This victory confirms KSV’s good form and keeps them in the running for playoff spots. Things continue for Saarland on Saturday (29 November) with an away game against SC Kleinostheim.
Gabriel Clemens out of Finals – World Championship duel with Spellman
From 21 to 23 November 2025, the Butlins Resort in Minehead played host to the best 64 players in the Players Championship Order of Merit for the PDC Players Championship Finals. Among them was Saarland player Gabriel Clemens, who qualified for the big season finale once again after a solid year on the tour.
However, Clemens’s tournament came to an end in the first round. The ‘German giant’ was unable to find his usual strength against northern Irish player Josh Rock and was ultimately defeated 3:6. An average of just under 80 points was not enough to put any serious pressure on his opponent. Although Clemens still had a few highlights (including one leg in 18 darts and a double 20 to put things at 2:4), Rock consistently exploited opportunities to secure a confident win.
Despite this early exit in Minehead, Clemens is already turning his attentions to the future. Monday (24 November) brought the draw for the PDC World Darts Championship 2026: Gabriel Clemens will be up against American player Alex Spellman in the first round. Alexandra Palace marks the next major appearance for the ‘German giant’ where he has an opportunity to round off a mixed season with a strong finish.
We are looking forward to upcoming events and appearances from our #hyloathletes and wish all of our HYLO® partners much luck and success.
