TG Saar celebrate bronze in the DTL finals
On Saturday evening (29 December 2025), the SNP Dome in Heidelberg played host to an exciting Deutsche Turnliga final. TG Saar faced SC Cottbus in the third-place playoffs – with everything coming down to the last routine of the evening. Saarland ultimately prevailed with a razor-thin 34:33 win to clinch the bronze medal, marking a fantastic end to the season.
The duel between TG Saar and Cottbus remained evenly matched for six apparatus. Moritz Steinmetz began on the vault, Saarland extended their lead on the parallel bars, then Cottbus fought back on the horizontal bar. The match threatened to tip the other way on the floor and pommel horse, but Artur Avetisyan turned things around on the rings. Florian Lindner secured the final point with a strong-nerved routine – in his last competition for TG Saar.
The evening was made particularly emotional by the departure of Waldemar Eichorn, who also won bronze competing in his final event for TG Saar after a long and successful career. This brought TG Saar’s season to an end with both sporting success and a moment brimming with team spirit and passion.

SVE remain undefeated at home, draw in battle of the chasers
On Sunday (30 November 2025), SV Elversberg played host to SV Darmstadt 98 for a battle of the 2. Bundesliga chasers. In front of 9,307 spectators at the URSAPHARM Arena, the two top teams played an intense match that ultimately had no victor. The 0:0 was marked by pace, rigour and tactical discipline – both teams had opportunities but the crucial moment never came.
Darmstadt were more active at the start and had some early opportunities, including a shot by Isac Lidberg that hit the crossbar. Elversberg gained a foothold in the match thanks to Younes Ebnoutalib and Bambasé Conté, then Marco Richter managed a save on the line shortly before half-time. After the change of ends, the two teams cancelled each other out in the midfield, until Ebnoutalib missed the biggest opportunity in the 80th minute – his shot sailed over the goal.
Manager Vincent Wagner described it as a ‘fair draw’ and praised his team: ‘This was a fantastic, fun match. Complements to my team on their performance.’

Füchse Berlin: European delight, Bundesliga dampener
The Max-Schmeling-Halle played host to two top-quality evenings of handball this week. On Thursday evening (27 November 2025), Füchse Berlin made their mark in the Champions League: 38:34 against One Veszprém HC saw the capital club celebrating their ninth win in nine games in this competition. The Berlin team put in a passionate performance in front of 5,720 spectators, led by Lasse Andersson, who was named player of the match thanks to ten goals. Tim Freihöfer (eight goals) and Tobias Grøndahl (seven goals) also shone, whilst keeper Lasse Ludwig raised the roof with some vital saves. Coach Nicolej Krickau described it as a ‘top match that was insanely intense and lots of fun’.
Three days later on Sunday afternoon (30 November 2025) came a Bundesliga match against TBV Lemgo Lippe – this time, with a bitter ending for Füchse. The Berlin team were narrowly defeated 33:34 in an exciting duel. Mathias Gidsel was the top scorer with eight goals, whilst Lasse Ludwig kept hopes alive with twelve saves. However, Lemgo held their nerve in the final stages to clinch the points. As captain Max Darj put it: ‘We fought back, showed our strength – but ultimately it was not enough.’
This marked the end to a week of contrasts for Füchse: celebrations about their international performance, Bundesliga disappointment.
Their next task is coming soon – Füchse Berlin have two away games on the schedule for this week:
- Thursday (4 December, 6:45 p.m.) against Kolstad Handball in the Champions League.
- Sunday (7 December, 3 p.m.) against TSV Hannover-Burgdorf in the Bundesliga.
BCB celebrate strong away weekend and jump up to second place
1. BC Saarbrücken-Bischmisheim demonstrated their class in impressive form in two matches this week.
The Saarland team left no room for doubt right from the outset against TSV Trittau on Saturday (29 November 2025). Toma Junior Popov and Marvin Datko definitively won the first men’s doubles match in three sets. Isabel Lohau and Sara Thygesen similarly retained control of the women’s doubles, then Mads Christophersen and Marvin Seidel turned the second men’s doubles match around in confident form after a tight first set. Popov and Christophersen dominated the singles with clear three-set wins, whilst Julie Dawall Jakobsen also gained the upper hand in the women’s singles. Seidel/Thygesen rounded out the evening in the mixed doubles. The end result was a clear 7:0, with Bischmisheim only dropping a single set and controlling much of play.
A day later, a significantly harder opponent awaited in the form of Blau-Weiss Wittorf-Neumünster. Popov/Datko were clearly defeated in the first men’s doubles match – putting Wittforf 1:0 ahead. However, BCB immediately responded: Lohau/Thygesen confidently won the women’s doubles, then Christophersen/Seidel clinched the second men’s doubles in a hard-fought five-setter. Popov showcased his class in the men’s singles to win in three sets and Jakobsen dominated the women’s singles with a clear three-set victory. The mixed doubles team of Seidel/Lohau also held their nerve to win in four tight sets. Christophersen ultimately sealed the deal with a clear win in the second men’s doubles. A 6:1 win brought Bischmisheim a full spread of points and confirmed their current strong form.
‘These two wins have put our team up to second place – that was a strong weekend’, a club spokesperson said. A cohesive team performance and consistency across all disciplines were what made the difference.
Shortly before Christmas, BCB will be playing two home games in the Joachim-Deckarm-Halle: on Saturday (20 December, 5 p.m.) against champions SV Fun-Ball Dortelweil and on Sunday (21 December, 3 p.m.) against TV Refrath – a fantastic weekend that could have major consequences for the top of the table.
Saarlouis Royals: European experience and Bundesliga acid test
This was a week of international showcases and national title battles for the Saarlouis Royals.
On Wednesday evening (26 November 2025), the team were knocked out of the EuroCup Women with a 72:80 defeat by TTT Riga. Despite this expected departure, the team played with huge passion and quality, remained within striking distance across numerous games, and gained valuable experience. Head coach Matiss Rozlapa emphasised how important it was for German national players to develop alongside international athletes and have another opportunity to prove their mettle on a European stage.
Just a few days later on Sunday (30 November), the Stadtgartenhalle played host to a duel with Rutronik Stars Keltern. The Royals held their own against the championship favourites – boosted by new American additions Trinity Baptiste and Taylor Valladay – with a seven-player rotation. The final score was 69:77, highlighting their fighting performance, even if they failed to take advantage of the opportunity to cause a stir. Special thanks were given to the fans, who provided the team with vocal support despite the difficult staffing situation.
This marked the end of an exciting week for the Royals – with international intentions and an national acid test. On Sunday (6 December, 6:30 p.m.), the Royals face Eigner Angels Nördlingen for an away match. They will be seeking to carry forward their positive takeaways from this week and focus their full attentions back on the Bundesliga.
proWIN Volleys demonstrate commitment, München-Ost hold nerve
On Saturday evening (29 November 2025), proWIN Volleys TV Holz headed to the Schulsporthalle on Führichstraße in Munich for an away game. The team faced DJK SB München-Ost in the 2. Damen-Volleyball-Bundesliga Süd. An intense duel developed in front of around 120 spectators, providing 76 minutes of excitement.
The first two sets were hard fought: Holz held strong for a good while, causing difficulties for München-Ost several times and keeping pace right through to the end. However, it ultimately came down to minor errors and the home team’s greater consistency, putting the set scores at 25:23 and 25:22 in their favour. The Volleys were unable to keep up the pressure in the third set, so München-Ost took advantage to secure a clear 25:14 win. This put the final score at a 0:3 defeat for Saarland –seemingly definitive, although the first two sets were notably more exciting and evenly matched than this would suggest.
Despite the defeat, the Volleys showed commitment and fighting spirit, especially in the tight opening stages.
After their loss in Munich, they are now turning their attentions to their upcoming home game: on Saturday (6 December) at 7:30 p.m., the Volleys will be welcoming AllgäuStrom Volleys Sonthofen to the Multifunktionssporthalle at Sportcampus. The team will be seeking to use their tight sets in Munich as motivation in front of a home crowd and chalk up valuable 2. Bundesliga Süd points with an energetic performance.
KSV Köllerbach lose to table leaders Kleinostheim
On Saturday evening (29 November 2025), KSV Köllerbach faced the table leaders for an away duel in Maingauhalle Kleinostheim. Things got off to an unlucky start: Florian Zimmer was not allowed to compete due to being overweight, giving the home team an early 4:0 lead. However, Oleksandr Khotsianivskyi immediately made an impact and got Köllerbach out of the starting blocks with a controlled 4:2 win on points.
Valentin Seimetz also put in a committed performance in the 66kg category, but was narrowly defeated. The two Greco-Roman specialists Hayk Khloyan and Hayk Melikyan brought a major turning point: Khloyan won by fall after just a few seconds, then Melikyan clearly dominated his fight to add four to the team’s tally. At the break, Köllerbach had an astonishing 9:6 lead.
However, Kleinostheim took control after the whistle sounded once again. Igor Makuch battled courageously but was narrowly defeated. The home favourites then won the following matches with ease. Shyyka, Taran, Schiffler and Touna put up some resistance, but were unable to match the quality of the table leaders. The final score was 23:9 to Kleinostheim. Team manager Thomas Geid emphasised after the event: ‘We were missing a few key figures today, but the team put in a decent performance.’
Despite the defeat, Köllerbach remain in fifth place in the table and are now turning their attentions to the future.
On Saturday (6 December, 7:30 p.m.) KSV Köllerbach will be playing host to top team SV Wacker Burghausen in Kyllberghalle. This will be a genuinely high-end duel, where Saarland will be seeking to confirm their fighting performance in front of a home crowd and gain valuable points in the race for the playoffs.
We are looking forward to upcoming events and appearances from our #hyloathletes and wish all of our HYLO® partners much luck and success.
