What’s new from the HYLO® Sport family
Last week brought yet more key fixtures and exciting deciders for our #hyloathletes. We take a look back at the last seven days’ events and competitions featuring our athletes, teams and clubs.
Saarlouis Royals – season ends after three intense playoff duels
Saarlouis Royals have finished their week with an emotional rollercoaster in the Toyota DBBL playoffs. The best-of-three quarter-final series against BC Marburg went the distance – with a strong start, a setback in the second match, and a hard-fought decider on Easter Monday.
The Royals sent a clear message at the Stadtgartenhalle on Thursday (2 April 2026) to kick off the series. The team put in a focused performance to win 79:66, controlling large portions of the match. Emma Eichmeyer led with 22 points and the team’s cohesion secured a well-earned 1:0 lead in the best-of-three series.
Two days later in Marburg on Saturday evening (4 April 2026) was an entirely different picture. Despite carving out a temporary 14-point lead, the Royals were unable to clinch the match and ultimately lost 80:84. The momentum particularly tipped in the final quarter, when a strong run from Marburg turned the match around and forced a third deciding fixture.
The crucial duel on Easter Monday (6 April 2026) at the Stadtgartenhalle became an intense match that remained open for long stretches. Saarlouis got off to a focused start, were leading by half-time and continually put pressure on Marburg’s defence. However, the dynamic shifted after the change of ends: the away team gained a better foothold, whilst the Royals allowed too many opportunities to slip away at crucial moments. Marburg consistently exploited this period and ultimately won 68:63. This means that the Royals’ Bundesliga season ends at the quarter-finals.
Despite this early exit, the team can look back at a season with many strong moments – from the division, to the cup, to their first ever international appearance in the EuroCup. The Royals are now turning their attentions to preparing for the upcoming season.
SV Elversberg hold off 96 to stay in the promotion race
On Easter Sunday (5 April 2026), SV Elversberg secured a 1:1 draw in their away game against Hannover 96 to remain on track in the tight race for promotion from the second division. SVE fell behind early after an unlucky own goal, but gained stability as the match went on and battled back with compact defending.
Hannover kept up the pressure for long periods, but goalkeeper Nicolas Kristof kept his team in the running with numerous strong saves. He spearheaded one moment after half-time that tipped the balance somewhat: Immanuël Pherai was fouled in the penalty box and Lukas Petkov safely scored on the penalty to put things at 1:1 (56’).
Hannover remained dangerous in the final stages, but Elversberg retained a compact defence to secure a vital point. As manager Vincent Wagner said in summary: ‘It was a top match that delivered exactly what it said on the tin. We had a touch of luck at a few points, but the equaliser was ultimately not undeserved.’ As always, a detailed match report can be found in our HYLO® News.

Füchse Berlin – clear home win on Easter Sunday
Also on Easter Sunday (5 April 2026), Füchse Berlin played host to SC DHfK Leipzig in the Max‑Schmeling‑Halle for the 27th match day of the DAIKIN Handball‑Bundesliga. The Berlin team put in a confident performance in front of 8,725 spectators to secure a clear 39:26 win.
Füchse set the course of play early on and consistently extended their lead even in the first half. This was built on a solid defensive performance – and a goalkeeper in top form: Lasse Ludwig managed a total of 19 saves and a 42 percent save rate. Nicolej Krickau later praised his performance: ‘Winning the battle of the goalies made a huge difference. Lasse Ludwig played exceptionally well.’

The team also impressed in attacking terms with a wide spread of goals. Lasse Andersson and Mathias Gidsel scored six each whilst Tobias Grøndahl contributed five. In addition, pivot player Mijajlo Marsenić celebrated a personal milestone with his 750th Bundesliga goal.
This clear win consolidates Füchse’s position in the top group and sends them off into their upcoming tasks with the wind in their sails.
Things continue for Füchse on Sunday (12 April) at 6 p.m. with an away game against TBV Lemgo Lippe at the PHOENIX CONTACT arena.
BIKE AID – challenging race at Boucle de l’Artois
On Saturday (4 April 2026), BIKE AID were competing at the Boucle de l’Artois in northern France – a UCI‑1.2 stage race that featured extreme conditions this year. Powerful gusts of wind, a massive pile-up involving around 60 riders, and an hour-long halt to the race all ensured a chaotic event where the field was constantly being shaken up.
In a race marked by uncertainty and constant changes of rhythm, BIKE AID opted for control and minimising risk. The cyclists reacted attentively to changing situations, kept away from the most dangerous scenes and managed a solid finish to the race despite the difficult conditions. They focused definitively on chalking up race miles and gaining experience on challenging terrain – especially for the many young riders seeking to secure vital further development this season.
The team will remain in France over Easter, as Wednesday brings their next major event in the form of the five-day Circuit des Ardennes. This longstanding tour offers BIKE AID an opportunity to further refine their form and immediately apply their experience from Artois in an intense stage race.
BCB – European Championships begin in Huelva: opening win for Seidel, Lohau in action today
On Easter Monday (6 April 2026), Huelva in Spain saw the start of the Badminton European Championships – with some positive news straight away for BC Bischmisheim. To kick things off, Marvin Seidel celebrated a confident two-set win alongside Thuc Nguyen in the mixed doubles to secure a spot in the next round. The German duo controlled the match right from the outset and made their mark for the German team.
Isabel Lohau’s tournament begins today (Tuesday), when she and Debora Jille will be facing Spanish duo Carulla/Jimenez in the women’s doubles. After a strong start for the German team, Lohau is heading into her first European Championship match with the wind in her sails.
Both BCB players have other challenges ahead in the coming days – and an opportunity to work their way up the rankings as the tournament progresses.

Gabriel Clemens – three appearances in Leicester, qualification secured for Graz
Gabriel Clemens was competing in three tournaments in Leicester: Players Championships 7 and 8 on 30 and 31 March 2026 then the Tour Card Holder Qualifier for the European Tour on 1 April. The week brought some varied results – but also a vital success.
Clemens had a difficult start to Players Championship 7. He came under pressure early on against Jurjen van der Velde and lost 2:6. The eighth tournament in the series the following day was much more solid: after a 6:4 win against William O’Connor, where he consistently defended an early break, the second round brought a tight duel with Richard Veenstra. Both competitors had multiple opportunities for a double and Veenstra ultimately clinched the match in the decider – after Clemens had forced 5:5 with an 84 finish.
Wednesday then brought the Tour Card Holder Qualifier – where the ‘German Giant’ really made his mark. Wins against Wesley Plaisier (6:1) and Jeffrey Sparidaans (6:3) put him through to the playoff, where he beat Beau Greaves 6:3 to secure a ticket to the Austrian Darts Open in Graz. This is vital for him to hold his own in the tight European Tour race.
