What’s new from the HYLO® Sport family

Our #hyloathletes have enjoyed some eventful days with exciting clashes and vital results. We take a look back at the last seven days’ events and competitions featuring our athletes, teams and clubs.
Tim Hellwig – win at Supertri opener in Austin
Early in the morning on Whit Monday (25 May 2026, 7 a.m. local time), Tim Hellwig kicked off his Supertri Pro Series with a win in Austin, Texas. The Olympic champion immediately established a competitive position on this quick course in Zilker Park and immediately made his mark in the swim. He took up position at the front of the pack alongside Chase McQueen, before forming a crucial breakaway group during the cycle that would shape the race.
The subsequent run was the key to his success. Hellwig took advantage of his good starting position, controlled the pace and pulled away during the final kilometres in the Park. A focused end section allowed him to confidently hold this lead through to the finish line, confirming his strong form to round off the first block of the season.
Looking back at the race, Hellwig described the morning start as ‘a special moment during sunrise’ and emphasised how happy he was to ‘finish the competition with a strong run’. He also emphasised that he was feeling good, ‘healthy and in a solid position heading into the next stage of the season’. After the race, he is returning to Europe to recover and prepare for the tasks ahead. The next Supertri stop is in Jersey.
HG Saarlouis – late setback in Braunschweig
For the second match in the second-division promotion playoffs on Whit Monday (25 May 2026, 3 p.m.), HG Saarlouis headed to Sporthalle Alte Waage in Braunschweig. After an emotional start against Hamm, Jörg Lützelberger’s team were seeking to take the next step – and remained on track for much of the match. However, a dramatic final section turned things around and left them heading home with a 34:33 defeat.
Saarlouis got off to a strong start, taking an early 8:2 lead and controlling proceedings through to the second half. HGS remained 19:14 ahead at half-time and extended this lead even further after the change of ends. However, then the momentum changed. Errors, missed opportunities and time penalties put Braunschweig back in the running. During the final stages, MTV’s back-court player Philipp Krause stepped up and managed to score three seconds before the end to put things at 34:33.
Lützelberger openly noted their disappointment after the final whistle: it was ‘incredibly painful for everyone’ that they were unable to ‘carry it over the finish line’. However, he also emphasised that moments like these are part of the development process and something that the team would need to learn from.
This means that the group still remains wide open: all three teams have a win and a defeat under their belts. Things continue for HGS on Saturday (30 May, 7:30 p.m.) against ASV Hamm‑Westfalen before their final home game against Braunschweig.
Füchse Berlin – point against Hannover secures second place
On Thursday evening (21 May 2026, 7 p.m.), Füchse Berlin welcomed TSV Hannover‑Burgdorf to the Max‑Schmeling‑Halle. The match became an open exchange of blows that ended up in a 30:30 scoreline. The team were not particularly happy right after the final whistle, but this point ultimately proved to be vital.
Berlin struggled to consistently push forward for much of the match but benefited from a strong presence in goal: Lasse Ludwig made 17 saves, including the final ball of the game. Around an hour after the match finished, Flensburg’s defeat in Magdeburg made the situation clearer: a better goal difference meant that Füchse moved up to second place, putting them in an excellent starting position in the race to qualify for the Champions League.
Notably, this was their first draw of the entire season. The Berlin team’s previous 30 league matches all ended in either wins or losses – a streak that has now been brought to an end, making the point earned in the battle for second place even more valuable.
Things continue for Füchse on 29 May (8 p.m.) with an away game against ThSV Eisenach.
Saarland Hurricanes – home defeat against Schwäbisch Hall
On Saturday (23 May 2026, 4 p.m.), the Saarland Hurricanes played host to the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns at the Ellenfeldstadion for the second match of the GFL Süd season. The Canes only managed to sporadically gain a foothold in the match against the favourites from Hall. The final score was 49:13, reflecting the team’s current stage of development.
They got off to an incredibly unfortunate start: the away team achieved their first touchdown just a few seconds in. Although the defence had some good moments in the first quarter, they left gaps in both their attacking and defensive play that Hall consistently exploited. By half-time, the Hurricanes were 28:0 down.
The team had a significantly more active period after the break. The attacking ranks established a better presence and Youngblood scored their first touchdown of the day after a deep pass. Their defence also put in a more committed performance and managed a few key stops, but the Unicorns consistently responded and kept the momentum heading in their direction. Shortly before the end of the third quarter, the Hurricanes closed the gap to 13:42, but Hall upped their final score to 49:13.
Despite the result, this marked a noticeable improvement on the previous week, especially in the second half. At the same time, it was clear that any errors or lapses in concentration against a team like Schwäbisch Hall would be punished immediately. The match was also overshadowed by a major injury suffered by one of the away players – the Hurricanes wish them a rapid recovery.
Things continue for the Saarland Hurricanes on Saturday (30 May, 4 p.m.) with an away game against the Straubing Spiders.
Saarlouis Hornets – three days of top‑level junior baseball
From 23 to 25 May, the Saarlouis Hornets ballpark played host to the U18 state cup – a weekend that set new standards on both a sporting and an organisational level. In midsummer temperatures, the invitation teams from all over Germany offered intense matches, strong individual performances and a final that remained exciting through to the very last inning. The Hornets supplied a large team of helpers, smooth operations and an inviting atmosphere, ensuring that players, coaches and fans all had a very enjoyable three days – both at the ballpark itself and on the hylo.sport live stream.
The invitation team from North Rhine‑Westphalia came out on top of the sporting event on Whit Monday. The team won the final against Baden‑Württemberg 9:7 to continue their strong form from the preliminary round, where NRW won all four of their games. The South‑West invitation team came third, followed by Lower Saxony and Berlin‑Brandenburg.
This tournament was a complete success for the Hornets: three days of non-stop baseball, lots of tight matches, a deserving winner – and a host that demonstrated the passion and commitment of Saarlouis’s young talent programme.
BIKE AID – battling the heat at Paris–Troyes
Whit Monday (25 May 2026) brought the Paris–Troyes one-day race for BIKE AID – and the conditions could scarcely have been more challenging. A heat wave right at the start saw temperatures rise above the 30‑degree mark, making the race a test of physical endurance, cooling and concentration. This made consistent hydration and the many ice packs that the team distributed along the course particularly vital.
Despite the extreme conditions, the cyclists established a solid position within the pack. Yoel Habteab came 20th, immediately followed by Nahom Efriem in 21st place. Even Yemane completed the trio of top BIKE AID positions, in 30th place. They were followed by Max Grabosch (33rd), Victor Vidal (46th) and Máté Balázs (53rd). The heat took its toll on the entire peloton, but BIKE AID’s united team of cyclists made it to the finish line and chalked up some valuable racing miles.
Things continue for the team on 3 June at the Mercan Tour Classic Alpes‑Maritimes (UCI 1.1) in France.
Team75 Motorsport – consistent points and podium finishes in Zandvoort
On the fourth weekend of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Germany season (22-24 May 2026), Team75 Motorsport put in a solid performance overall across the two days of racing at Circuit Zandvoort. The team from Landstuhl gained some podium finishes in the special rankings plus some vital points, whilst also experiencing a few chaotic moments on the Dutch dune route.
Saturday began with a two-part race that only continued in the evening after an accident and extended period of crash-barrier repair. Sam Jongejan exploited his home advantage and finished in third place in the rookie rankings, at 14th overall. After a difficult qualifying, Gian Luca Tüccaroglu worked his way up from 20th on the grid to 16th, securing a point for the championship thanks to a guest driver finishing ahead of him. Michael Essmann came fourth in the pro‑am category and also earned vital ranking points.
Sunday provided a mixed day of racing. Gian Luca’s race was brought to a premature end after a collision in the first round. Sam once again performed strongly in head-to-heads, was in the top ten at points, and secured second place in the rookie rankings (14th overall) despite a penalty lap. Michael battled his way up the pro‑am field, ultimately finishing third in this category and earning the points for second place thanks to the ranking system. This means that, at the mid-point in the season, he is leading the pro‑am rankings.
Things continue for Team75 Motorsport at the Lausitzring from 19 to 21 June.
Jürgen Doberstein – strong comeback at Columbiahalle
On Saturday evening (23 May 2026), Jürgen Doberstein stepped back into the ring at Berlin’s Columbiahalle – and supplied the exact performance that his fans had been hoping for after recent months. Just 91 days after his last fight, the ‘Dobermann’ took on another tough challenge and demonstrated from the very first bell that he would be making his mark.
An intense fight developed against Emran ‘Pepper’ Aliju, a quick, powerful southpaw from Skopje. Doberstein was focused, remained tactically disciplined, and drew on his experience to control the 27‑year‑old’s moves. The crucial moment came in the fourth round: a precise blow knocked Aliju to the ground, keeping him down until the count of eight. From then onwards, Doberstein dominated proceedings and confidently cruised through the rounds to victory.
This evening was more than just a successful fight. Doberstein demonstrated the attitude that has defined him for years – a willingness to pick himself back up after setbacks and take on any challenge. The fans in the Columbiahalle could feel this and loudly cheered his return to the ring.
After this successful comeback, the question remains of what comes next for the ‘Dobermann’. One thing is clear: his hunger remains strong and the boxing scene should expect him to make his mark this year.
Gabriel Clemens – three appearances in Leicester
Gabriel Clemens chalked up three appearances at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester from 18 to 20 May. The schedule included two Players Championships and the qualifiers for the European Tour – and the Saarland player put in a strong performance across all three days, although without managing to break through to the later stages of the tournaments.
Clemens got off to a strong start in Players Championship 17. He beat Luke Woodhouse 6:3 but then failed to get going against Rob Owen and was defeated 6:2. Even his 125 finish on a 12‑darter was not enough to win, as Owen immediately responded with a 136 checkout.
This pattern was repeated a day later. At Players Championship 18, Clemens initially defeated Jermaine Wattimena 6:3, then significantly increased his average in the second match but missed too many doubles and lost 6:4 to Tommy Morris.
The final event of the three was the Tour Card Holder Qualifier for the European Tour. Clemens put in one of his best performances of the week, playing a 103 average, but was narrowly defeated 6:5 by Sebastian Bialecki. He was similarly out of luck in the second qualifier, losing 6:2 to Ricky Evans.
This marked the end of a Leicester week for Clemens that featured numerous good moments but no real breakthroughs. His next opportunities will be coming up soon on the Pro Tour. We are looking forward to upcoming events and appearances from our #hyloathletes and wish all of our HYLO® partners much luck and success.
