What’s new from the HYLO® Sport family
Recent days have provided a broad mix of challenges, competitions and exciting performances for our #hyloathletes. We take a look back at the last seven days’ events and competitions featuring our athletes, teams and clubs.
HYLO® Speerwurfmeeting Offenburg – battling the heat and strong throwing to mark anniversary
On Sunday (21 June 2026), Offenburg’s ETSV‑Stadion played host to the tenth HYLO® Speerwurfmeeting. Amid temperatures around the 30‑degree mark, some 400 spectators enjoyed two tight, elite competitions that remained open down to the final throw.
For the women, Swiss athlete Leonie Hügli prevailed with a throw of 59.85 metres. She secured the winning distance on her second attempt then retained her lead through to the end. Australian Lianna Davidson came close with 59.11 metres, whilst Mackenzie Mielczarek completed the podium trio with 57.38 metres. Local hero Lorena Frühn came eighth, falling somewhat below expectations at 53.87 metres.
The winning throw also came early on in the men’s event. South African Douw Smit threw 81.90 metres on his second attempt and remained unbeaten. A close race then developed for the remaining podium spots. Giovanni Frattini increased his distance to 80.36 metres on his final throw to clinch second place ahead of Lars Anthony Flaming (79.26 m). Offenburg local Max Dehning put in a solid performance and came fifth with 78.30 metres.
The event organiser described this as a successful anniversary event, despite the heat. ‘Beforehand, athlete manager Werner Daniels predicted a duel between new Swiss record holder Leonie Hügli and Australian Lianna Davidson. And that is exactly what happened’, the official release noted.
Team75 Motorsport – strong performances and two rookie wins at Lausitzring
Team75 Motorsport enjoyed a unanimously strong weekend at the fifth Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Germany event at the Lausitzring on 19 to 21 June. Sam Jongejan, Gian Luca Tüccaroglu and Michael Essmann gained vital points in both races and made their mark on their respective ranking tables.
The Saturday race saw the team get the second half of the season off to an impressive start. Sam Jongejan climbed from eighth on the grid up to sixth and also came top of the rookie rankings. After a difficult start, Gian Luca Tüccaroglu continually pushed forward and only narrowly missed out on the top ten in eleventh place. Michael Essmann drove a consistent race, made up several places and came second in the pro‑am category, allowing him to defend his lead in these rankings.
The trio continued this same form on the Sunday – despite huge heat and intense jostling for position. Sam Jongejan launched another strong pursuit, gaining seven places and securing his best result of the season with fifth place overall. He also won the rookie section for the second time in two days, putting him at the top of the rookie rankings. Gian Luca Tüccaroglu had a similarly strong race, pushing from 21st on the grid up to eleventh. Michael Essmann was knocked back by a time penalty, but still finished third in the pro‑am rankings and thus remains in contention for the championship title.
Things continue for Team75 Motorsport at the Norisring in Nuremberg from 3 to 5 July.
Carrie Schreiner – class win in NLS race on north loop
The sixth Nürburgring Langstreckenserie race on 20 June brought a strong result for Carrie Schreiner. Together with teammates Andreas Ziegler and Roland Froese, the Saarland racing driver won the AT1 class for alternative technology vehicles in an Audi R8 LMS GT3 driven for Équipe Vitesse. The trio secured pole position in their category in the qualifying then consistently capitalised on this throughout the race.
This success was another vital step forward for the eFuel project. The use of Racing eFuel 98 E10 on the northern loop demonstrated how reliable and high-performance alternative fuels can be under real conditions. Following races with Toyota, Porsche and BMW, this was the first class victory secured by an Audi GT3 as part of the project.
Carrie Schreiner was relieved looking back after the race: ‘After so much bad luck this year, I am just happy to finish a race without any major complications. That’s what makes this little victory feel so great.’

This was also Équipe Vitesse’s first NLS race with two GT3 vehicles. Further eFuel Audi appearances are already being planned for races 8 and 9.

Saarland Hurricanes – difficult afternoon in Ravensburg
Saarland Hurricanes’s away game at the TeleData Stadion am Lindenhof on Sunday ended in a clear 48:6 defeat by ifm Razorbacks Ravensburg. The Saarland team arrived brimming with energy and driven by new momentum: new quarterback Jaylen Tregle would be competing with them for the first time, and initially brought noticeably improved structure and pace to their attacking play.
The first drives showed that the Hurricanes were playing more boldly than in previous weeks. Two early attacking runs took them deep into their opponent’s half, but a failed fourth down and a blocked field-goal attempt prevented them from scoring. Ravensburg consistently exploited these situations and gradually took control. One particularly bitter pill is the fact that the blocked kick was converted directly into a touchdown.
The turning point came in the middle of the second quarter: Jaylen Tregle was injured and unable to carry on. The attacking lineup had to be reconfigured, with running back Allen Jonczyk taking on the role of quarterback – a change that affected numerous positions and had a visible impact on the team’s rhythm. Saarland were 34:0 down by half-time.
The defending ranks managed some good sets of moves after the break, but a loss of possession deep in their own half resulted in the home team’s next touchdown. The Hurricanes had to wait for the final quarter for their first taste of success: Joshua Youngblood took on the role of quarterback, led the attacking ranks down the field and secured a touchdown to put the score at 41:6. Ravensburg added the final touch shortly before the final whistle.
Despite the clear result, the team remained committed and held their nerve. However, the lineup adjustments prompted by the injury and their opponent’s quality of play made this afternoon a major challenge.
Things continue for the Hurricanes on 27 June with an interconference duel against Düsseldorf Panther at the Neunkircher Ellenfeldstadion.
BIKE AID – strong performances at Route d’Occitanie
From 18 to 20 June 2026, the Route d’Occitanie took BIKE AID back to the Pyrenees – along roads that have been closely intertwined with the history of cycling for decades. This tour is one of France’s most longstanding stage races, with BIKE AID competing for the seventh time. The conditions were challenging: high temperatures, long climbs and a strong field including countless World Tour teams.
As in previous years, the team were a mixture of young talent and experienced riders. The three African athletes Nahom Efriem, Even Yemane and Yoel Habteab made their presence known throughout – whether in hectic sprints, breakaway groups, or long climbs through the Pyrenees.
BIKE AID made a strong impression in the main stage. Nahom Efriem and Victor Vidal were in the leading group for the day, whilst Oliver Mattheis kept pace with the top climbers in crucial mountains and achieved a remarkable 14th place in Loudenvielle. Victor Vidal was also named the most combative cyclist in the stage for his attacking performance.
As well as these sporting achievements, it was clear once again how much work goes into a race like this. The coaching team were out all day, every day, to ensure that all equipment, food and procedures were set up perfectly for the riders. Sporting directors Anton Wiersma and Léo Bouvier provided the team with solid leadership across three intense days.
BIKE AID are heading straight back into action: this weekend brings the national championships in the Thuringian Forest, after which the team are heading to Romania for the Sibiu Tour.
Gabriel Clemens – strong performances at Players Championships 21 & 22
On 16 and 17 June 2026, Gabriel Clemens was competing in Players Championships 21 and 22 at the Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan. The Saarland player put in solid performances on both days and confirmed his upward trend on the Pro Tour.
To kick things off, Clemens secured an impressive 6:2 defeat of Henry Coates, coming close to the 100‑point mark at times. However, the second round saw him being knocked out by Jonny Clayton, who won all remaining legs after falling 0:2 behind. This left him with just the one win on the first day.
Clemens improved on this significantly on day two, gradually making his way to the quarter-final. Two clear wins in German duels – 6:1 against Marvin Kraft and 6:2 against Niko Springer – were followed by a confident 6:0 victory over Wesley Plaisier. The Saarland native the chalked up a 102 average to defeat Mickey Mansell 6:2. His run then ended in the quarter-final: despite better statistics, Clemens missed out on the opportunity for a win in the deciding leg and narrowly lost 5:6. Nevertheless, this place in the final eight marked a vital step in his battle to qualify for the Players Championship Finals.
Tim Hellwig chalks up vital racing miles in Quiberon
The World Triathlon Championships Series race in Quiberon on 20 June was not an easy day for Tim Hellwig. After a week where training opportunities were restricted by illness, the Saarland athlete nevertheless lined up at the start to try and get the best from the race. This challenging route along the French Atlantic coast was demanding for competitors and Hellwig struggled to establish his usual rhythm.
Even early on, it became clear that he was not physically in top shape after his health issues. Despite this, Hellwig battled his way through every section and kept control right to the finish line. He was clear about this afterwards: he said he had ‘taken a bit of a gamble after a week of illness’, but his body was unable to perform as it usually would on this particular day. He will now be focusing on his recovery before turning his attentions to the future.
Hamburg (11-12 July 2026) marks the next major highlight. This home WTCS is traditionally an emotional highlight for Hellwig – and an opportunity to go back on the attack once he has fully recovered.
