What’s new from the HYLO® Sports family

Our #hyloathletes have been putting in fantastic performances once again this week. We take a look back at the last seven days’ events and competitions featuring our athletes, teams and clubs.
Strong performance by TG Saar at away game in Pfuhl
On Saturday (12 October 2024), TG Saar secured an impressive 89:9 away win over TSV Pfuhl in the Deutsche Turnliga (DTL) first division. This sees the Saarland team celebrating their second success of what is still an early season.
The gymnasts fielded by coach Eugen Spiridonov dominated early on the floor and pommel horse, winning 18:0. TG Saar also impressed on the other apparatus: they won the rings 12:3, the vault 16:0, the parallel bars 11:2 and the horizontal bar 14:4. The team thus gained not only the overall win with a clear lead, but also valuable apparatus points in their mission to qualify for the league finals in front of a home crowd.
The highest point scorer was Daniel Mousichidis with 25 points, followed by Oleg Verniaiev with 24 points and Felix Remuta with 23 points.
Their next home competition will be on Saturday (19 October) in Dillingen against Siegerländer KV. The competition will begin at 6 p.m.
FCS Tischtennis narrowly defeated in classic face-off
On Friday evening (11 October 2024), the Joachim-Deckarm-Halle in Saarbrücken hosted a classic German table tennis face-off. 1. FC Saarbrücken Tischtennis were facing their long-time rivals and reigning champion from Düsseldorf for a Tischtennis-Bundesliga (TTBL) match. In an exciting duel, FCS TT were narrowly beaten 2:3 by Borussia Düsseldorf.
The match began with a defeat for Darko Jorgic, who lost to Anton Källberg in five sets. Patrick Franziska equalised in the second match with a clear 3:0 win over Timo Boll. Eduard Ionescu then put FCS TT in the lead with another 3:0 victory over Kay Stumper.
Timo Boll, in what might be his last TTBL appearance in Saarbrücken, then took the fourth game of the day with a 3:1 defeat of Darko Jorgic. In the final doubles decider, Källberg and Haug beat Franziska and Meissner to secure the win for Borussia Düsseldorf.
Despite this defeat, 1. FC Saarbrücken TT showed huge fighting spirit and remain in the middle of the league. The Saarbrücken players’ next match will be on 28 October against Borussia Dortmund.
proWIN Volleys win exciting home game
On Saturday evening (12 October 2024), TV Holz’s proWIN Volleys secured their second win in a row in the 2. Damen Volleyball-Bundesliga Süd season. In an exciting home game against Neuseenland Volleys Markkleeberg, the Holz volleyball players won 3:1 (26:24, 26:24, 22:25, 26:24).
There was an open exchange of blows right from the outset, with neither team able to gain an early upper hand. Despite a few tricky decisions and some errors, the proWIN Volleys held their nerve thanks to some well-timed time-outs by head coach Sergej Danilov and took the first set 26:24. Holz’s volleyball players also fought back from behind in the second set to win 26:24 once again.
In the third set, the visiting team from Markkleeberg’s performance was rewarded with a 22:25 win. The fourth set was once again closely fought, but the proWIN Volleys showed their strength and took it 26:24 after saving three set points. MVP Mikaela Stevens ended the match with an ace to clinch the win, to cheers.
This success meant the first defeat of the season for the Neuseenland Volleys, whilst the proWIN Volleyscelebrated their second win of the season so far. The next home game for the proWIN Volleys is on Sunday (20 October) at 4 p.m. against VC Wiesbaden 2 at the SPORTCAMPUS Saar in Saarbrücken.
First win of the season for Royals against Eisvögel
On the third day of play in the 1. Damen Basketball-Bundesliga (DBBL) on Sunday (13 October 2024), the Saarlouis Royals achieved their first win of the season in their home venue of the Stadtgartenhalle. The Royals beat Eisvögel USC Freiburg, the 2022 German champions, with a definitive score of 82:53. This victory puts the Royals at eighth place in the table.
The game was well-balanced to begin with, but the Royals defended aggressively and were able to keep the score at 21:13 in the first quarter. In the second quarter, they extended their lead and headed into half-time comfortably ahead on 40:23.
The Royals continued to dominate in the second half, leading 60:35 after the third quarter. Despite a brief rally by the Eisvögel in the final quarter, the Royals gained a confident win.
Head coach Matīss Rožlapa praised the team’s performance and the numerous offensive rebounds that created second chances. After the game, Jessika Schiffer emphasised how much she enjoyed the team play, cheered on loudly by the crowd at the Stadtgartenhalle.

The Royals’s next game is on 20 October 2024 at 4 p.m. and will be played away against table leaders Rutronik Stars Keltern. It will be broadcast live on Sporttotal.tv. The Saarland team’s next home game is on 27 October 2024 at 3 p.m., against BC Pharmaserv Marburg.
Füchse Berlin celebrate successful week with two wins
Füchse Berlin are looking back at a successful week, featuring two crucial wins in the Champions League and Bundesliga.
Last-minute win for Füchse in the Champions League
On Thursday evening (10 October 2024), Füchse‘s fans enjoyed an exciting Machineseeker EHF Champions League home game in the Max-Schmeling-Halle. In front of 5,696 spectators, Füchse Berlin secured a dramatic 25:24 win over Polish team Orlen Wisla Plock.
The game was hard-fought right from the start. The visiting team from Plock initially took the lead, but Füchse Berlin were consistently able to respond, in particular thanks to a strong performance in goal by Dejan Milosavljev, who managed a total of twelve saves. On the offensive side, Mijajlo Marsenic and Mathias Gidsel impressed with six goals each.
After an exciting first round, ending in a 12:12 draw, things remained evenly matched in the second half with a battle right through to the end. Ultimately, it was Jerry Tollbring’s goal in the final minute that secured the team their first Champions League home win of the season at 25:24.
Coach Jaron Siewert sounded proud of his team after the game: ‘We knew that this would be a physically difficult game. I am proud of how well we defended with a strong goalkeeper at our back. The boys were given responsibility and put it to good use.’
Third home win in three HBL games
On Sunday (13 October 2024), Füchse Berlin secured an impressive 34:27 win over Rhein-Neckar Löwen in the DAIKIN Handball-Bundesliga. This win put Füchse at the top of the table. The capital team put in a strong performance in front of 8,745 spectators in Berlin’s home venue, including the German national handball team’s coach Alfred Gíslason.
Particularly worthy of mention are the performances by Mathias Gidsel and Lasse Andersson, who scored ten goals each. Dejan Milosavljev shone in goal once again, with twelve saves. Young player Max Beneke also impressed with four goals.
Füchse started strong and were able to carve out an 18:13 lead by half-time. Despite the visiting team rallying slightly during the second half, the Berlin team confidently defended their lead and secured a well-earned win.
Things are continuing at full pace for Füchse Berlin with two away games. On Thursday (17 October) there will be a Champions League duel against Sporting CP. The Portuguese champions and current table leaders are also leading the Champions League Group A table after four days of play. This will be followed on Sunday (19 October) by another top duel, when HBL table-leaders Füchse face current second-placed team MT Melsungen for a top game.
Strong end to the season for BIKE AID at the Tour de Serbie
From 11 to 13 October 2024, Team Bike AID from Saarland participated in the Tour de Serbie, a UCI 2.2 category race. This event also marked the end of the season for the team. With riders Léo Bouvier, Lennard Sternsdorff, Anton Schiffer, Máté Balázs and Leslie Lührs, the team managed to achieve remarkable results once again in this challenging race after a long season of effort.
Stage 1: Léo Bouvier put in a strong performance to come third. This was a promising start for the team and set the tone for the subsequent days.
Stage 2: Léo Bouvier continued his impressive form and finished in second place. His consistency and stamina also ultimately gained him second place in the overall sprint rankings.
Stage 3: Anton Schiffer shone in the final stage and secured second place. This performance highlighted the team’s strengths and potential.
Bike AID ultimately came third in the final team rankings. For the Saarland team, this represents a strong, positive end to a long, challenging but also very eventful and successful season. Now, the whole team and support staff can enjoy a well-earned holiday to recover and regain their strength.
Carrie Schreiner gains podium place at Porsche Sports Cup finale
The season finale of the Porsche Sports Cup Germany was held at the Hockenheimring from 11 to 13 October 2024. This prestigious event provides both experienced racing drivers and ambitious emerging talent with a platform to showcase their skill. Carrie Schreiner competed for Team Plusline Racing in a Porsche Cayman GT4 RS alongside her teammate Bianca Rödig.
In the turbulent Porsche Sprint Challenge GT4 race on Sunday, which saw the race organisers send the safety car out three times, Carrie Schreiner finished in third place. This meant that she and her team managed a podium finish in the GT4 brand cup in their first race using e-fuels (sustainable synthetic fuel).
A successful end to this racing series for Carrie Schreiner and her team. Things continue in November and December for the Saarland racing driver with the F1 Academy races.
