What’s new from the HYLO® Sports family

Our #hyloathletes have been putting in strong performances once again this week. We take a look back at the last seven days’ events and competitions featuring our athletes, teams and clubs.
SV Elversberg delights fans with home win over HSV
On Saturday (26 October 2024), SV Elversberg celebrated an impressive 4:2 home win over Hamburger SV. In front of 9,502 spectators in the sold-out URSAPHARM Arena on Kaiserlinde, coach Horst Steffen’s team put in an exceptional performance, especially in the second half.
After dropping behind early on following a sixth-minute goal by Davie Selke, SVE fought their way back into the game. Fisnik Asllani managed to equalise shortly before half-time (41st minute). SVE really got going in the second half: Asllani scored again in the 53rd minute to put things at 2:1, then Luca Schnellbacher and captain Robin Fellhauer – in his second match in a row – rounded out the win perfectly with goals of their own. HSV were able to narrow the gap somewhat, but Elversberg held firmly on to their win.
Coach Horst Steffen was visibly pleased after the game: ‘We ran more than 120 kilometres. That is hugely strong, and in my view we deserved the win.’
This victory puts SV Elversberg up to seventh place in the table and continues their 2. Bundesliga winning streak. More information and impressions of the game can be found in our detailed post-match report.
SVE’s next big event is this evening: the team face German champions and cup winners Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the second round of the DFB cup. This game in the BayArena begins at 6 p.m. Just four days later on Saturday (2 November) is the next competitive 2. Bundesliga game, played away against Jahn Regensburg.
Füchse Berlin show fighting spirit against PSG and gain win in Bietigheim
Füchse Berlin had an eventful week with two crucial games and a huge spectrum of emotions. On Thursday (24 October 2024), the capital team faced Paris Saint-Germain in the Machineseeker EHF Champions League. In a thrilling game in the nearly sold-out Max-Schmeling-Halle, Füchse had to accept a 38:40 defeat despite a strong attacking performance. Mathias Gidsel was Berlin’s most exceptional player with ten goals and Matthes Langhoff also impressed with six goals. Despite the defeat, Füchse put in a fighting performance to much applause from the 8,525 spectators. However, the Berlin team suffered a bitter blow from the match: Swedish left winger Jerry Tollbring sustained a serious knee injury that puts him out of action for Füchse Berlinfor the remainder of the season. We would like to take this opportunity to send Jerry our best wishes for a successful recovery.
Just a few days later on Sunday (27 October), Füchse faced SG BBM Bietigheim in the DAIKIN Handball-Bundesliga (HBL). The Berlin players chalked up a vital 32:28 away win in the EgeTrans Arena. Coach Jaron Siewert’s team put in a cohesive team performance and was able to rely on both strong defence and accurate attacking. For this away win, Füchse Berlin particularly cranked up the heat after the change of ends to make things clear cut. Their attacking and defending both stepped up a notch, following a slight 16:15 lead for the visiting team at half-time.
Serbian goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev’s performance was particularly stellar, ultimately managing 14 saves and a 37.8-percent save percentage. 24 goals conceded was the lowest number so far this HBL season. On the attacking side, world-class handball player Mathias Gidsel particularly impressed with twelve goals, making him the top scorer. The Danish national player also managed five assists.
Following this win, Füchse Berlin remain in fourth place in the HBL table and have brought a three-match losing streak to an end. On Thursday (31 October), the EHF Champions League continues with a trip to Bucharest, then Sunday (3 November) offers a top HBL game against THW Kiel on their home court.
BC Bischmisheim continue winning streak with away victory
On Sunday (27 October 2024), 1. BC Saarbrücken-Bischmisheim achieved a crucial 5:2 away win against SG Schorndorf in the 1. Badminton-Bundesliga. Despite a weakened men’s singles lineup, BCB were able to secure a safe win in Baden-Württemberg.
BCB‘s players suffered defeats in the two men’s singles matches but showed their strengths in the other disciplines. Both the women’s singles and the women’s doubles saw confident wins. BCB also gained points in the men’s doubles and mixed doubles, securing their fourth win of the season and third place in the table.
Following this win, BC Bischmisheim are turning their attentions to the upcoming HYLO® Open 2024, which the club is holding at the Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken from today until 3 November. You can watch the entire tournament via our live stream.
BCB’s next Bundesliga home game is on 9 November against defending champions Dortelweil.
Royals impress with strong team play in home win
On Sunday (27 October 2024), Saarlouis Royals celebrated a clear 85:60 home win over BC Pharmaserv Marburg (16:18 | 18:13 | 26:9 | 24:20) in the TOYOTA 1. Damen-Basketball-Bundesliga (DBBL).
After an evenly matched first half where Marburg initially took the lead, the Royals dominated in the third quarter, laying the foundations for their victory. The strong team performance in this third quarter is particularly worthy of mention, with the Royals managing a 12:0 run that did not leave any opportunities for Marburg. This third win in the fifth day of play in the Toyota 1. DBBL puts Saarlouis up to fifth place in the table.
The Royals’ next game is on Friday (1 October) at 6:30 p.m., played away against WINGS Leverkusen.
1. FCS Tischtennis celebrate comeback win against BVB
Yesterday evening (28 October 2024), 1. FC Saarbrücken TT gained a hard-fought 3:2 away win against Borussia Dortmund in the Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL). After falling 0:2 behind, the team from Saarland began an impressive pursuit to secure the win in an exciting match.
Saarbrücken lost the first two singles matches, but then began their race to catch up. Patrick Franziska and Yuto Muramatsu both won their singles, bringing the score back to 2:2. In the doubles decider, Franziska and Eduard Ionescu prevailed to secure a crucial 3:2 away win for FCS TT, as they did a few weeks earlier against BVB in the cup to achieve the same result.
With this win under their belts, 1. FC Saarbrücken TT are optimistic about their upcoming TTBL games. On 14 November, the Saarland team will be seeking to continue their improved form in their next Bundesliga match against TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau, secure an even better final scoreline, and climb further up the table.
We are looking forward to upcoming appearances from our #hyloathletes and wish all of our HYLO® partners much luck and success.
