A BATTLE OF EQUALS FOR SVE IN MAGDEBURG

THE NEXT BIG TRIP HAS ARRIVED FOR SV ELVERSBERG – THEY ARE HEADING TO 1. FC MAGDEBURG. CHANCES ARE GOOD.

This Sunday at 1:30 p.m., the MMDC Arena in Magdeburg will offer another opportunity for SV Elversberg to continue their run – against a team that had a fantastic start to the season but has failed to win any of its last five games.

Both teams are currently sitting in the middle of the 2. Liga – SVE are in seventh, with Magdeburg two points behind in tenth. ‘Magdeburg’s play structure means that they always have the facility to win games’, Horst Steffen understands. ‘Most of their opponents had to defend a lot and chase down a lot, but then took advantage of the mistakes made. Nevertheless, Magdeburg’s playing style is very appealing and tidy. I have a high opinion of our opponents. Magdeburg will challenge all of the boys on our team, including the new arrivals.’

The SVE coach, who is still having to manage without Marcel Correia and Wahid Faghir, is anticipating a strong opponent. ‘They always have solutions when in possession of the ball, good passing, good dribbling and relatively secure ball control, so do not lose their composure easily – Magdeburg have plenty to offer’, Horst Steffen notes, but clearly returns the focus to his own team: ‘We want to show Magdeburg the quality we are made of, and that we want to and can hold our own’. If SVE manages this, their run will continue.
