Another first for SVE – meeting Hertha in the Olympiastadion

SV Elversberg are playing in Berlin for the first time in their history – and are expecting a win from an away game in front of an anticipated 35,000 spectators.

Firsts all round: SV Elversberg has never played Hertha BSC. In fact, this is the sport club’s first competitive game ever in Berlin, in any competition. On the first day of the Advent season, SVE is seeking to light the touchpaper rather than spark the mood in the stands.

However, SVE has already gained experience in facing big names in large stadiums this season: 60,000 spectators and the top club Schalke 04 seemed to inspire rather than impress Horst Steffen’s team.
But given the current temperatures, it will take fireworks to create a sizzle in Berlin – and if anyone can do it, SVE can.

‘Elversberg are in good form, and we can expect a strong opponent who we will not be underestimating. I hope that we will be rewarded with three points this time’, Hertha’s young midfielder Pascal Klemens had to say about the Saarland team.

There is also another piece of good news to report: coach Horst Steffen and offensive player Manuel Feil both racked up their 200th competitive game for SV Elversberg on Sunday. Both Steffen and Feil have had a major impact on SVE in recent years and have become symbols of the club’s success. The aim is now to continue this in Berlin. Sunday is when it counts!
