Another two title chances for Füchse Berlin after a successful week

What a spectacular week for the handball players from the national capital!

With two brilliant home wins last week, Füchse Berlin have logged two vital successes for the upcoming end spurt to the season at their home venue of the Max-Schmeling-Halle.

The first highlight was on the European stage on Tuesday (18 April 2023). Füchse became the first team in the EHF European League to win all ten group games and fly into the last sixteen with a clean sheet, but they then had to claw their way back from four goals down in the second leg of the quarter final against Kadetten Schaffhausen from Switzerland.
In a gripping game in an impressive setting, the Berlin team managed to beat their Swiss counterparts 30:24 thanks to a boost of energy and a strong mental performance, securing entry into the EHF European League’s final four.

Next up, the Berlin team will meet Montpellier HB from France at the EHF semi-finals on 27 and 28 May in Flensburg. The other semi-final will see league rival Frisch Auf Göppingen taking on BM Granollers from Spain. Following success in 2015 and 2018, the capital’s club will be doing all it can to take home the two victories it needs in the final tournament to win the EHF trophy for the third time in the club’s history.

After reaching the EHF final four on Tuesday, just five days later the team had their next top game at their home venue on Sunday (23 April). Füchse Berlin celebrated a brilliant home victory against Rhein-Neckar Löwen at 38:24. In front of 9000 spectators in the sold-out Max-Schmeling-Halle and clearly spurred on by the renewal of top player and league legend Hans Lindeberg’s contract during the week, the Berlin players outclassed the newly crowned cup winners with a richly deserved win and retained a Champions League spot at the top of the HBL jointly with table leaders THW Kiel.

With this hugely successful week and two title chances under their belt, the players are now heading off to their national teams. After the international cap break, the Füchse will be back on 3 May with a Handball Bundesliga league away game in Stuttgart, followed by their next home classic on 7 May against SG Flensburg Handewitt.

We would like to wish Füchse Berlin continuing luck and success with both their title races.
