Full of anticipation

Tomorrow, Saturday 5 August, our Elv are hosting FC Hansa Rostock for the first home game of the 2. Bundesliga season. As renovation work to the URSAPHARM Arena on Kaiserlinde is still being finished, the game against Rostock is being held in the Saarbrücken Ludwigsparkstadion. This is not a big issue for our head coach, as he notes that there are already some successes associated with Ludwigspark: ‘I hope that plenty of fans accept Ludwigspark, we need our people’s support. Last season we won the Saarland Cup final and the away game in Ludwigspark. It all fits, and we are looking forward to our first home game in the 2. Bundesliga.’

There is also some good news in the week of preparations for opponents Rostock: Luca Schnellbacher is able to train fully with the team once again and is ready to be deployed. However, the team facing Rostock will still be missing Dominik Martinovic and Frederik Jäkel, who is on loan to RB Leipzig and still training individually.

The upcoming opponents from Rostock had a strong start to the season: with a 2:0 home win, the team – headed by coach Alois Schwartz – has shown that they have no plans to be relegated this year. ‘Rostock’s last games under Alois Schwartz have been very successful, starting well with good mileage, compact play, and well-played passing situations’, our head coach notes. ‘This means that it will be a major challenge once again to play Rostock and find solutions whilst also defending our goal well.’

But our Elv’s performance in Hanover leaves us no reason to hide. Everything is set for the first home game in the 2. Bundesliga. Together we can dare to fight for our first three points.
