German championship finals nearly in reach for FCS Tischtennis

The Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL) is approaching an exciting end. In the playoff semi-finals, four teams are battling for a place in the Liebherr TTBL final to win the German Championships. 1. FC Saarbrücken Tischtennis are one of the semi-finalists.

The Saarland team are the regulars in the final lineup: FCS Tischtennis have reached the TTBL finals five times in a row, winning the title once (2020). Saarbrücken also feature regularly in the playoffs, appearing in the top four every year since 2011.

The Saarbrücken players have provided an exceptional main round this season in the TTBL. They took up position at the top of the table right from the outset and have retained it throughout. FCS have gained their best points score ever in the club’s history, at 34:6.

Thursday (23 May 2024) saw the first playoff game. 1. FC Saarbrücken TT headed far north to face SV Werder Bremen. The game ended in a 3:0 win for Saarbrücken, laying the foundations for a final place.

The second playoff semi-final against Werder Bremen is on Sunday (26 May) at 3 p.m., in front of a home crowd in Saarbrücken’s Joachim-Deckarm-Halle. Prospects for this Sunday and a potential final place are very promising. If FCS TT win they will make it to the Liebherr TTBL final, taking place on 30 June 2024 in the Süwag Energie ARENA in Frankfurt.

We would like to wish 1. FC Saarbrücken Tischtennis much luck and success for reaching the final and beyond.
