German Gymnastics Association crowns their champion in Saarland

German Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Junior Championships 2023 in Dillingen/Saar

Together with the German Gymnastics Association, TG Saar is organising this year’s German Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Junior Championships from 29 June to 2 July 2023 in the Kreissporthalle Dillingen/Saar. A total of 120 athletes aged 12 to 18 will be competing for the German championship on floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar. 104 of these are registered for the all-round scoring. Federal junior coach Jens Milbradt will also be on hand to gain an overview of how Germany’s top junior gymnasts are performing and their future potential.

After an open training session for all participants on the Thursday, competition for titles begins on Friday morning with the compulsory routines for the 12 and 13/14 age categories. Older age groups will follow in the afternoon with their compulsory and optional competitions. The first medal decisions will be made on Saturday in the all-round scoring and on Sunday for the individual apparatus finals.

For organisers TG Saar, it is a huge honour to have been entrusted the task of putting on the championships by the German Gymnastics Foundation. The last time a competition of this kind came to Saarland (Bous) was in 1988. The choice of Saarland pays tribute to many years of successful work with young talent.

Saarland gymnasts will therefore feature in all age categories. 17/18 has the four top talents of Daniel Mousichidis, Gabriel Eichhorn, Maxim Kovalenko and Moritz Steinmetz, who are all already on the TG Saar federal league team. The first three took the top three positions in the all-round competition last year. Daniel Mousichidis is entered for five different apparatus.

All age categories are likely to very competitive fights for medals. The lineup will also include Mert Öztürk, Jonas Eder and Maximilian Glaeser, who were proposed by the German Gymnastics Federation to compete in the European Youth Festival (EYOF) at the end of July.

We are looking forward to some exciting, varied competitions by these young talents, as a foretaste of the 2023 finals of the adult German Championship being held in Düsseldorf from 6 to 9 July.
