German gymnastics team with a brilliant finish at the EnBW DTB Cup

At the 38th EnBW DTB Cup, leading international gymnasts from 18 nations were once again able to enjoy a great atmosphere. Almost 20,000 spectators flocked to the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart during the three days of the event. During the seven different competitions, the expert and enthusiastic audience was offered an exciting and varied potpourri of top gymnastic performances.

The German gymnastics team gave the audience goose bumps once again at the end with the silver medal in the Mixed Cup, a unique format in which women and men compete together as a team. In a high-class final that continued right up to the last apparatus, the team led by Elisabeth Seitz and Andreas Toba was only narrowly defeated by the team from Japan and thus achieved a brilliant finish.
The juniors of the German Gymnastics Federation also produced excellent performances in front of a large audience in a duel with the best in the world and thrilled the gymnastics fans in the hall.

It was particularly pleasing from the Saarland’s point of view that the two ‘young guns’ of TG Saar, Daniel Mousichidis and Maxim Kovalenko, did well. The two gymnasts from the Bundesliga team from Saarland won silver with the junior team. Daniel won silver on pommel horse, Maxim won gold on vault and is allowed to travel to the Junior World Championships as a reward.

For the gymnasts of the German gymnastics team, the DTB Cup was a good opportunity to evaluate their current position with regard to the upcoming challenges at the European Championships in Antalya in April and at the World Championships in the autumn. For the German gymnastics fans it was another three-day celebration for the gymnastics lover’s heart.
