HISTORIC ENTRY INTO THE WORLD CUP SEMI-FINALS – GABRIEL CLEMENS WRITES SPORTING HISTORY

The “German Giant” has achieved what many darts professionals have so far been denied: Gabriel Clemens was the first German to reach the semi-finals of a Darts World Championship – thus landing a real surprise coup. He did not make it into the final in the end, but Clemens still set the German record with his success.

A week earlier Gabriel Clemens had already wowed the crowd at London’s venerable Ally Pally venue and lived up to his role as a shooting star. He secured his ticket to the last 16 against Welshman Jim Williams with a thrilling 4:3 victory – thanks to nerves of steel. The match to reach the quarter-finals was then a real sensation: Gabriel Clemens won with a clear 4:1 victory over Alan Soutar from Scotland.

In the round of the last eight on Sunday evening, Clemens’ mental strength was once again put to the test: In his match against the world number one Gerwyn Price from Wales, he skilfully exploited Price’s weaknesses and did not allow himself to be unsettled when Price appeared on stage wearing soundproof headphones. Clemens decided the victory clearly in his favour in the end with a score of 5:1.

Although the “German Giant” did not manage to win the semi-final against the runner-up of 2019 and later World Champion for 2023 “Bully Boy” Smith and thus make it into the final, the overall result was nevertheless one of the greatest successes of his career – in the end, this Saarland native set another German record in addition to reaching the semi-finals: He celebrated his seventh win in the PDC World Championship against Soutar.

The HYLO® Sports Team congratulates Gabriel Clemens on this sensational World Championship result and wishes him every success in the upcoming competitions in 2023! Keep it up!
