HYLO® SAAR DARTS GALA 2023 once again a major attraction
3000 spectators heeded the siren call of professional darts and its popular players on 9 June in the Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken. For weeks, fans eagerly awaited matches featuring World Darts Champion Michael Smith, local hero and defending champion Gabriel ‘Gaga’ Clemens, his national teammate Martin Schindler, and other top players.
And as expected, the stars of the scene quickly set the hall ablaze. The players were split into two groups and matches were played to determine the group winners, which was followed by inter-group semi-finals to determine the finalists. Despite outstanding support from the crowd, Gabriel Clemens was not able to win his two group matches. His teammate Schindler fell a little later, against Dutch player Dirk van Duijvenbode in the semi-final. World champion Michael Smith then ultimately beat van Duijvenbode to secure victory in the HYLO® Saar Darts Gala 2023.
Gaga’s luck also failed in the evening show match: he and javelin Olympian and current coach of the German national javelin team, Boris Obergföll, lost to YouTube footballer Jan Stemmler in a team with Martin Schindler.
