HYLO^® Team Saar ready for the new Bundesliga season

The 1. Bitburger 0,0% Triathlon-Bundesliga began its new season in Kraichgau on 25 May 2023. At the traditional launch of the race series competing for the German team championship title, HYLO^® Team Saar will be heading to the start line as joint favourites, standing as they do as the previous year’s runner up and 2021 league winner.

The Saarland team has been reinforced with some international talent for the new season to enable them to consistently present a strong starting lineup in individual competitions. Given the very tight, packed schedule for international triathlon, the five Bundesliga competitions will always clash with a variety of other events involving individual team members, e.g. as part of their national team.

The first race at Hardtsee in Ubstadt-Weiher is designed to be a team competition. Rather than an individual sprint-distance race, two competitions are held as a 2×2 pairs relay over the super-sprint distance. This race format, where the team with the first three athletes to reach the finish line wins, is extremely exciting and involves both tactical opportunities and risks during the race. HYLO^® Team Saar is lining up with new arrival Harry Leuleu (GBR), Chris Ziehmer, Tim Hellwig and Valentin Wernz.

The clear goal is a podium finish at the end of the 2023 season – but the team’s performance is also raising hopes all round of a second championship title to follow 2021.

At last week’s press conference to present the team, the team members and managers all appeared extremely motivated and eager to begin the new season.
