Direct re-promotion for proWIN Volleys TV Holz

With a victory in the last match of the season in the 3. Bundesliga Süd, the proWIN Volley of TV Holz achieved immediate promotion back to the 2. Volleyball Bundesliga on Saturday evening (01.04.2023) in front of their home crowd.

The final of this year’s third division volleyball season offered a scenario that could not have been written better in a thriller script. The two direct competitors for promotion to League 2 met head-to-head in the last match of the round. Since the league leader and champion, TSV GA Stuttgart, did not register for the 2. Bundesliga, the team from Saarland as second in the table and SV Sinsheim as third in the table had to play the final match for promotion.

The young TV Holz team won an exciting and high-class match in front of an enthusiastic home crowd in the multipurpose hall at the Landessportschule in Saarbrücken by 3:1 sets and celebrated the victory and immediate promotion to the 2. Bundesliga afterwards.

This made the team, those responsible and the fans all the happier, because after last year’s relegation, a direct return to the topflight was not the stated or expected goal for the season. Many young players from the team’s own junior players were included and were able to gain experience at this level for the first time. The fact that, together with the established team leaders, the team was promoted to the second highest division in Germany shows the great potential of the young team and how responsible team management and extensive and targeted promotion of young players can lead to sustainable success.
