KÜS Team Bernhard heading to the DTM season finale at the Hockenheimring
The grand finale of the 2023 DTM season is just around the corner for KÜS Team Bernhard: this weekend (20-22 October 2023), the Hockenheimring in Baden-Württemberg is hosting the traditional season finale to this popular touring car racing series. After seven stops and fourteen races so far, Saturday and Sunday will see the remaining two races no. 15 and 16, with drivers competing for their final championship points on one of Germany’s most traditional, challenging race tracks.
The team headed up by two-time Le Mans winner and world endurance champion Timo Bernhard are seeking to capitalise on their upward momentum during the second half of the season and take another place on the podium at this home race.
The two drivers, Ayhancan Güven and Laurin Heinrich, have already performed impressively well in their first season for the Palatinate team. Thus far, Ayhancan has earned 65 points in the overall rankings in his Porsche 911 GT3 R with the starting number 24, putting him in fifteenth place. His season highlight was an outstanding third place at the Sachsenring. Laurin Heinrich, in the racing car with the starting number 75, has also put in a strong performance in the first DTM season of his career: this young Kürnach native goes into the final act at the Hockenheimring with 78 points and thirteenth place in the driver rankings. Two podium finishes (second place at the Nürburgring and in the Saturday race at the last stop at the Red Bull Ring) have shown that the youngster and Carrera Cup winner can already hold his own, despite being a DTM newcomer.
These successes serve as proof of both drivers’ talent and determination. They show that Team Bernhard is one of the best in the DTM. The season has been a real journey with ups and downs, victories and defeats, delight and disappointment. We cannot wait for the finale, and are proud to have been part of this incredible journey.
We therefore wish KÜS Team Bernhard every success for the end of the season. We hope that they continue their string of good results and achieve another podium finish, and then – after an exciting, challenging season – that every single member of the team gets to enjoy a truly well-earned vacation.
