Launching the 2. Bundesliga mission – SV Elversberg’s roadmap is set

After their sensational promotion and extensive celebrations, the SV Elversberg team have been back in work mode since Monday 26 June 2023 for the challenge that is the 2. Bundesliga. At 10 a.m. sharp, the whole team and coaching staff began their first training session to mark the start of their preparations at the SVE training ground in St. Ingbert’s Mühlwaldstadion.

As soon as the final whistle blew and promotion to the second highest division in German professional football was secured, work was already underway on all fronts to further professionalise the club’s structures at all levels. The logistical and structural changes are already evident, and the conversion of the URSAPHARM Arena into a second-division stadium is in full swing.

The squad is already busily being put together and the first new arrivals have already been announced. Striker Dominik Martinovic has been signed from Waldhof Mannheim, and offensive player Paul Stock is also joining the Kaiserlinde team from TSV Steinbach Haiger. A third new offensive arrival as been secured for the Elv for the 2023/24 season in Joseph Boyamba – a flexible player from TSV 1860 Munich. Arne Sicker was signed from SV Sandhausen for the defence, and Tim Boss has been brought in for Magdeburg to occupy the goal. In addition, the two homegrown players Sebastian Saftig and Daniel Pantschenko from NLZ Saar will become an integral part of SV Elversberg’s professional squad.

First home game against F.C. Hansa Rostock

The 2. Bundesliga 2023/2024 match programme was officially announced today. SV Elversberg begin their mission with an away game on 29 or 30 July 2023 against Hannover 96. The first home game is against F.C. Hansa Rostock, followed quickly by an explosive neighbourhood derby against 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

One week before the second league derby against FCK, on Saturday 12 August at 6 p.m. Horst Steffen’s team will be welcoming the FSV Mainz team for the first round of the DFB Cup. For the first time since 2021, Elversberg team will meet the Bundesliga team and last season’s ninth place finisher, when they will be seeking revenge for their narrow elimination during a penalty shootout at their last encounter.

The team still has another four weeks before the start of the season to prepare for these new challenges. As well as a one-week training camp, which (like in previous years) is taking place in Bad Kreuznach, SVE will be playing some friendlies. As their first test game, on Saturday 1 July SV Elversberg will face Borussia Mönchengladbach II. The Saarland team’s second test comes barely a week later on Friday 7 July, when they have a preparatory game against third-league team and last year’s league competitor FC Ingolstadt. Next, as part of the training camp, Wednesday 12 July sees a preparatory game against Bundesliga team TSG Hoffenheim, a highlight for the summer. These will be followed by other test matches. The exact summer schedule and any last-minute changes or additions can be found here: SVE begins its summer preparations on 26 June – SV 07 Elversberg

We are looking forward to the next few weeks and the start of SV Elversberg’s new 2. Bundesliga mission.
