New partnership: HYLO® SPORTS welcomes Swiss wrestler Michael Ledermann
We are delighted to announce a new partnership and collaboration with Swiss wrestler Michael Ledermann. Michael is an exceptional athlete in the traditional Swiss sport of ‘Schwingen’, a form of wrestling that is very popular in Switzerland.
‘Schwingen’, also known as Swiss wrestling, is a form of single combat without weight classes that takes place in a sawdust ring. The opponents hold each other by a leather belt and a pair of shorts made of drill. Various throwing techniques are used to try and knock the other wrestler off balance and land them on their back. One hand must stay holding the wrestling shorts when throwing an opponent to the ground.
The cultural importance of Swiss wrestling in Switzerland is huge. It is Switzerland’s national sport, alongside ‘Hornussen’ (which translates as ‘farmer’s golf’) and ‘Steinstoßen’ (a form of stone put). Swiss wrestling events, known as ‘Schwinget’, are not just sporting competitions – they are also social occasions that foster tradition and customs.
Michael has made a name for himself with his impressive performances and his tireless commitment to the sport. His passion and commitment to Swiss wrestling are inspiring, and we are proud to welcome him to the HYLO® SPORTS family.
