Saarland Hurricanes ERIMA GFL home game against the Marburg Mercenaries
This Sunday (6 August 2023), the American footballers from Saarland will be playing their fourth home game of the current German Football League (GFL) season against the Marburg Mercenaries. Kick-off is on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Back on track for the playoffs
For the current third-placed team in the Erima German Football League – Süd, the aim this Sunday is to continue their flawless home record at Ludwigspark for the 2023 season and continue their excellent starting position into the remaining games of the season in the battle for the coveted playoff places. After a defeat in the top game last Saturday (29 July 2023) against the reigning German champions Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns (30-14), the Saarland natives want to regain their winning streak in their home game against the Marburg Mercenaries. After three losses and four wins so far in the current GFL season, the Saarland Hurricanes are on target for a playoff spot with both upwards and downwards possibilities. The minimum goal of reaching the knockout round of the German Championship is within reach.
A Hurricanes favourite
The Saarland team are heading into their upcoming home game against the Marburg Mercenaries as the clear favourite. The visitors from Hessen were able to achieve their first win in the previous round, and are coming to Saar as the team at the bottom of the GFL-Süd table. However, the Hurricanes will be sure not to underestimate their opponents – after they managed to celebrate their surprising first win of the season against the Ingolstadt Dukes at 27:24. However, last Sunday (30 July 2023) the Marburg team suffered a major 56:20 defeat against the Allgäu Comets. It will be exciting to see the two teams’ response to their previous losses when they meet for their match.
