Successful start to the season for HYLO® Team Saar in Kraichgau

At the starting race of the 1. Bitburger 0,0% Triathlon Bundesliga at Hardtsee in Kraichgau (Ubstadt-Weiher) on Saturday (20 May 2023), HYLO® Team Saar achieved second place. At the end of a very exciting and even competition in the 2×2 relay format, the Saarland team were just six seconds behind on the home straight, enabling last year’s runners-up to claim second place.

British new arrival Harry Leleu and Chris Ziehmer formed the first pair for the HYLO® Team, with Tim Hellwig and Valentin Wernz making up the second. Each had a 375-metre swim, 10-kilometre cycle and 2.5-kilometre run to complete. In springlike conditions and the traditionally special audience atmosphere in Kraichgau, the other elite teams ensured an exciting competition, which was narrowly run by the top favourites EJOT Team Buschhütten in the final sprint after a little under an hour. However, with Tim Hellwig and Valentin Wernz in second and third place, this rounded out a successful start to the season for the team with second place in the daily standings.

HYLO® Team Saar is therefore heading to the next Bundesliga competition in Schliersee on 25 June 2023 as the second-placed team in the table.

We followed the team throughout the day on their successful start to the season in Kraichgau, from leaving their Olympic training centre in Saarbrücken right through to their return home after a successful event. We will be publishing a clip on our social media channels soon.
