Successful weekend for triathlete Tim Hellwig and HYLO® Team Saar

Top triathletes from Saarland enjoying successes on various continents

This sees the 23-year-old achieve his second-best placement in the WTC series after his win in Hamburg in 2021, and thus gain vital points to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

After two wins at African races in the spring and a few breaks for health reasons, with this result the U23 runner-up world champion and member of the Deutsche Triathlon Union (DTU) prospect squad is confirming his positive development and a good outlook for upcoming challenges.

Tim’s teammates on HYLO® Team Saar also put in good performances in their home showing in Schliersee as part of the federal league. During the second competition of the 1. Bitburger 0.0% Triathlon-Bundesliga on Sunday (25 June 2023), HYLO® Team Saar achieved second place in the overall ranking for the day.

In the most challenging competition in the federal series, the Saarland team arrived at the starting line of the Schliersee race with Lasse Nygaard-Priester, Chris Ziehmer, Jaspar Ortfeld, David Lang and Harry Leleu. Over the sprint distance (750-metre swim, 15.5-kilometre cycle, 5-kilometre run), the elevation profile of the cycling section in particular – with an average 9% gradient for 3.8 km – represents a particular challenge for athletes.

Zweiter Platz für das HYLO® Team Saar in der Teamwertung

After the swim, the HYLO® athletes were able to establish a good starting position for the climb up the Spitzingsattel. Lasse Nygaard-Priester was in the leading group for the cycle and remained on the ball for the run. After the final 5km run, he finished first with a lead of almost a minute. Chris Ziehmer and David Lang followed in positions 7 and 21. Jaspar Ortfeld in 33rd place ultimately produced a team total position of 62, and thus second place in the team rankings behind the EJOT-Team from Büschhütten and ahead of the team from the south.

The next Bundesliga competition for HYLO® Team Saar is in Düsseldorf On 8-9 July as part of the large-scale ‘Finals 2023’ sporting event. We would like to wish the triathletes from Saarland further luck and success for their upcoming races at home and abroad.
