SV Elversberg does the double!

After the championship, SV Elversberg has also won the Cup final to round off a perfect season.

In a gripping game that went to extra time, SVE won the final of the Saarland Cup on Saturday (3 June 2023) in the Ludwigsparkstadion in Saarbrücken in front of more than 8000 spectators, scoring a deserved 3:2 against 1. FC Saarbrücken and thus securing the season double for the second time in a row.

After last year’s win of the cup and the Regionalliga championship resulting in promotion to the 3. Liga, this year sees another cup win and further progression to the 2. Liga with a championship win, another double. Elversberg fans have been able to enjoy four cups over the last two seasons, and thus wins in all of the titles open to the team. Success in the tenth final in a row also means the fourth cup victory in a row for Horst Steffen’s team.

All of these figures document the incredible success story enjoyed by the team and club as a whole in recent years. Ongoing development and hard work at all levels of the club have been rewarded with titles and enabled promotion to new horizons.

After this perfect end to a magnificent season, the players now have a three-week breather before preparations begin for their new tasks and goals in the new environment of the 2. Bundesliga.
