SVE PLAYS AWAY IN WIESBADEN

WITH MOMENTUM FROM THE HISTORIC FIRST HOME WIN AGAINST HSV IN A SOLD-OUT URSAPHARM-ARENA SVE CONTINUED AT THE WEEKEND IN WIESBADEN.

What a weekend that was against Hamburger SV. But our Elversberger cannot rest on its laurels. Wehen Wiesbaden hosted the team of coach Horst Steffen. It is already the third encounter with the Wiesbaden-based team for SVE this year. In the third division, Elversberg lost 0:1 in the first leg in January. And ELV also did not manage more than a 1-1 draw in the return match in the summer. “I am looking forward to the game. We haven’t won yet – now, of course, we intend to change that,” said SVE coach Horst Steffen ahead of the upcoming second-division clash in Wiesbaden this Saturday, 23 September. The away match will kick off at 1 pm in the BRITA Arena.

The intention is that the past duel against HSV serves as a blueprint here. “We played a good game against HSV recently – it’s clear that we want to carry some of that into the next game. But we are also called upon to do exactly what we did well against HSV,” says Horst Steffen. Hence, it is important to deliver performance and willingness to run, regardless of the size of the opponent. Because Wiesbaden is a tough opponent. “The style of play is still relatively similar to last season. Wiesbaden plays predominantly with a three-man backline, but the way they position themselves in front of it is always different. We have to be variable and adapt to different things,” says Horst Steffen and adds: “We also have to be prepared for the fact that they have become better, also through new signings and personnel changes. They started the season well, so they look confident and certainly want to show that at home.” Kevin Koffi will still be missing, Robin Fellhauer is back in team training. It will be decided in the short term whether Carlo Sickinger can play.
