SVE RISES TO THE 2. LIGA CHALLENGE TO STAND AS FAVOURITE

SV ELVERSBERG WON THEIR HOME GAME AGAINST LAST-PLACED LEAGUE TEAM BRAUNSCHWEIG 3:0 AND THUS REMAIN UNBEATEN AFTER SIX GAMES. THIS IS THANKS TO A FAST-LEARNING TEAM – AND THEIR COACH.

‘The boys are just good’, coach Horst Steffen visibly proudly said after the game when asked about how his team has developed thus far this season. He shrugged off the question of whether he had played a role with a charming smile: ‘Perhaps a bit’.

Paul Stock, Paul Wanner and Joseph Boyamba were the goal scorers for SVE, who played a mature game where they consistently retained control. His only criticism: ‘We could, or should, have made it 3:0 earlier’, coach Horst Steffen added.

Goal-scorer Stock serves as a symbol of the development that has been taking place at SVE. When asked about his development (Stock came up from the fourth league), the midfielder was modest: ‘It is true that I still have to adapt. I am learning in every game and every training session. There are also other teams that play at a faster pace than us, and I really have to stretch myself. But it is fun, and I am looking forward to developing further.’

Things continue next Sunday with a difficult away game in Magdeburg. SVE will once again be seeking points. ‘The fact that we already have lots of points under our belt does not affect how we tackle the next game. Because we head into every game wanting to win it’, Paul Stock explains. This outlook means that SVE should be able to look forward to another victory in Magdeburg.
