Upcoming season highlight for TG Saar: the DTL final for third place

TG Saar is facing a decisive moment to round off this year’s Bundesliga season.

On Saturday (2 December 2023), the Saarland gymnasts will compete against last year’s winners TuS Vinnhorst in the Deutsche Turnliga (DTL) ‘small final’ for third place in the German team championships for apparatus gymnastics. This eagerly awaited top event featuring the best gymnasts in Germany and various top international gymnasts will take place in the ratiopharm arena in Neu-Ulm from 2 p.m., alongside the ‘grand final’ for the gold between KTV Straubenhardt and TV Wetzgau,

The team achieved their minimum aim for the season by reaching the final tournament. Now, the Saarland squad are seeking a bronze medal as their season highlight. The gymnasts under Eugen Spiridonov have already put in some impressive performances this season. Since beginning the second half of the season with an away win in October, they have continued their winning streak to secure their place in the DTL finals in magnificent form.

Their opponents in the fight for bronze are not unfamiliar: during the current season, TG Saar were able to achieve a 36:23 win against reigning German champions TuS Vinnhorst in front of a home crowd. We can expect an exciting battle between two teams with strong lineups.

Boosted by the return of Ukrainian 2016 Olympic champion Oleg Verniaiev and with the strength of ‘young bucks’ Daniel Mousichidis, Maxim Kovalenko, Gabriel Eichhorn and Moritz Steinmetz, who have long since been key cornerstones of the team, TG Saar is heading into this competition confident, highly motivated and convinced that they can achieve the cherry on the top of a successful season on Saturday.

Like TG Saar, we are delighted about this season highlight and wish the team every success in Neu-Ulm.
