1. FCS Tischtennis in cup quarter-final against Werder Bremen

The 1. FC Saarbrücken Tischtennis remains undefeated for the 2023/2024 season. Whether Tischtennis-Bundesliga (TTBL), Champions League or cup, the team under captain Patrick Franziska has thus far remained unscathed across all three competitions.

After a brief season break due to national team deployments and individual competitions for top players (who have been competing at events such as the WTT Champions tournament in Frankfurt), 1. FCS TT is back competing in the final eight of the German table tennis cup. They will be seeking to join the final four this Sunday (19 November 2023) in the quarter-final against Werder Bremen, currently placed third in the TTBL table.

The team on the Weser has had a strong season thus far. As well as top Swedish player Mattias Falck and Kazakh Gerassimenko, Werder’s number three Marcelo Aguirre has also put in a good performance in recent matches.

Just one match stands between the cup’s remaining eight teams and the final four. The winner of Sunday’s match will move forward into the final four of the Liebherr Cup: the cup showdown will once again be a finals tournament, with the four best teams competing across two semi-finals and the resulting grand final. The first title of the season will be awarded at the ratiopharm arena Ulm/Neu-Ulm on 7 January 2024.

The Saarland players are absolutely looking to reach the semi-finals in Neu-Ulm, and then bring the German Cup back to the Saar for the third time in the club’s history (after 2012 and 2022). The team will once again be counting on the support of their fans on Sunday from 3 p.m. in the Joachim-Deckarm-Halle in Saarbrücken. We wish the 1. FC Saarbrücken Tischtennis team much luck and success as they aim to continue their winning streak.
