After international cap break – SVE head to Braunschweig

SV Elversberg are making their way to Braunschweig for Easter Saturday. A win would allow SVE to further increase their lead over the relegation zone.

‘I would caution against underestimating this team in any shape or form. They may not have the name of Hamburger SV or FC Schalke 04, but they are a very, very respectable second-division team with some exceptional players among their ranks. They have 35 points after 26 games and are sitting in the middle of the table. We know that they are very high quality’, Eintracht’s coach Daniel Scherning explained at the press conference before the game.

And SVE? They have finally gained a well-earned rest for their injured players thanks to the international cap break. ‘It remains to be seen how well we will emerge from this week, it has certainly been convenient for us to have an extra day or two given the injuries’, Horst Steffen noted about the staffing situation. Carlo Sickinger and Maurice Neubauer have returned to training, Paul Wanner is still ailing.

Those responsible have good memories of the first leg: a safe 3:0 home win. However, Eintracht have since made a lot of progress and SVE are wary of the reinvigorated Braunschweig side, who shone in their test match against Paderborn during the international cap break. ‘We know what is awaiting us and will be trying to play our game and earn points once again in Braunschweig’, Steffen noted. The stage is set.
