SV Elversberg

Sportvereinigung Elversberg (SVE) is a football club from Elversberg in Saarland, founded in 1907. The club’s professional team has been playing in the 2. Bundesliga since the 2023/24 season. The club has its own football stadium in the URSAPHARM Arena on Kaiserlinde, which has been renovated and extended in various phases since 2013. SVE runs a young talent centre (NLZ Saar), where it trains young players for its own professional team. In addition, in 2018 it founded a women’s football division that now includes multiple teams for women and girls.

SVE were able to end the 2022/23 season as 3. Liga champions and played in the 2. Bundesliga for the first time in the club’s history in the 2023/24 season. The team, headed by trainer Horst Steffen, managed to gain promotion to the 2. Bundesliga after just one season in the 3. Liga (as of June 2023).

SVE home games currently have an average of 5,000 spectators.

SVE has put in years of ongoing, professional, continual work, with a playing style that in particular offers attractive offensive football with plenty of goals. A stable defence ensures success.

SVE’s home games are played in the URSAPHARM Arena. The stadium currently seats 10,000 (as of March 2023). The future will be renovated and extended in various phases in the future.

Spiesen-Elversberg is a Saarland municipality in the district of Neunkirchen, around 15 km north-east of Saarbrücken, and thus at a central location in Saarland. Right next to the URSAPHARM Arena is a large car park, which is nevertheless full on match days. When spectator numbers are high, therefore, the club offers fans a free shuttle to the stadium from the park&ride car park in nearby Heinitz.

Frank Holzer (born 1953) is a former national league pro and an entrepreneur hailing from Elversberg. His love of football is behind SVE’s generous sponsorship and forms the basis for developing professional structures.
