CONFIDENTLY TO THE THIRD VICTORY IN A ROW

SV ELVERSBERG WINS IN WIESBADEN FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 23 YEARS AFTER A STRONG PERFORMANCE – AND IT IS FULLY DESERVED.

Thore Jacobsen and Wahid Faghir were the scorers in a game in which our SVE team shone. In a thoroughly successful performance, chances were created and exploited, pressure phases were overcome and, in the end, an important and well-deserved three points were secured. The post-match atmosphere was boisterous after three wins in a row and only conceding one goal. When asked by the Saarbrücker Zeitung whether the assault on the promotion places will now follow, Kevin Conrad replied: “Of course, now we want to be promoted. If we win all the remaining games, we will win the championship.” And our striker Luca Schnellbacher also added: “I think we’ll manifest that now and then fully attack.” Both smirked and their coach couldn’t help smiling either: “Of course, none of this should be taken seriously – you shouldn’t believe everything they tell you. But it’s nice to see the spirit of calm after such a hard fight,” said Horst Steffen.

Our head coach was of course also very satisfied after the game, having seen a “good game from his team and a deserved victory”. Steffen continued: “In the first half we conceded very little and created one or two opportunities. In the second half we had to survive several pressure phases. We defended these well for the most part. There were also not so many possession phases, and overall the victory was in order. I’m very happy that we were able to win here, because the club hadn’t managed to do that so often here, and neither have I personally.” So, after 23 years, the first win in Wiesbaden, and now Greuther Fürth is coming to Saarland.
