Finals 2023 Rhein-Ruhr – 18 sports, 159 German Championships

Various HYLO® athletes are competing for national titles at Germany’s largest multi-sport event

For four days from 6 to 9 July 2023, athletes will be competing for 159 German championship titles at the Finals 2023 Rhein-Ruhr in Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Kassel and Berlin. Following the format of major sporting events like the Olympic Games or the recently completed 2023 European Games in Krakow, the Finals event will be held for the fourth time since 2019, giving various sports an opportunity to present themselves to the general public in concentrated form. For the athletes, this pooling of competitions and the great interest from spectators and the media create a unique atmosphere and a particular motivation for the relevant title struggles.

The majority of the events are being held in Düsseldorf and Duisburg. Other than the pole vault (Düsseldorf), all of the track and field will take place in Kassel and the swimming in Berlin. ARD and ZDF will be broadcasting the Finals as a livestream and on TV. The competition will be held in not only traditional sports venues, but also distinctive locations in a city setting. The javelin results will be determined right on the banks of the Rhine in Düsseldorf, whilst the archers and triathletes will be showing off their skills in the Medienhafen of the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital.

The Finals offer a wide range of events: archery, artistic gymnastics, 3×3 basketball, breaking, BMX, climbing, judo, karate, rhythmic gymnastics, taekwondo, table tennis, trampolining and triathlon all feature. Championship titles will also be awarded for canoeing, canoe polo and stand-up paddling.

Many HYLO®athletes will be at the Finals 2023 Rhein-Ruhr to compete for titles and top positions.

The German Gymnastics Association will be crowning its apparatus champions. The national elite of the German gymnastics team will be lining up to compete in Düsseldorf. Elisabeth Seitz, Pauline Schäfer and Emma Malewski will all feature, but defending champion Sarah Voss is unfortunately out with an injury. For the men, youngsters Pascal Brendel and Milan Hosseini will stand alongside established competitor Andreas Toba. Sadly, Lukas Dauser will also be missing the event due to a shoulder injury.

The gymnasts of TG Saar will have eight men lining up for the Finals event. As well as established federal league first-team gymnasts Felix Remuta and Alexander Maier, alongside Joshua Maul (second team) and Mykola Sinyukhin (out of competition – Ukraine), Saarland’s top four talents in under-18 categories – who have already gained some medals at the German youth championships – will also be competing. We are excited to see how Daniel Mousichidis, Maxim Kovalenko, Gabriel Eichhorn and Moritz Steinmetz fare in the senior men’s competition.
