SVE HEADS TO KIEL

SV ELVERSBERG ARE MAKING A GUEST APPEARANCE AT HOLSTEIN KIEL THIS WEEKEND. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST TEN YEARS TO THE DAY SINCE THEIR LAST VISIT TO THE STORKS.

Some spectators are sure to remember what is currently SV Elversberg’s only appearance to date at the Holstein-Stadion in Kiel. Felix Luz and Dominik Rohracker contributed to the Saarland team’s 2:1 win in Kiel on 28 September 2013, with Marcel Schied keeping the home side just one goal down. Horst Steffen and his team would doubtless be very happy for things to go similarly this weekend.

Chances are good: after a spurt of four wins in a row, SVE is already sitting in tenth place in the table. Kiel is in a strong fourth place, just one point behind the league leaders from Düsseldorf.

However, the Kiel team have huge respect for SVE, as the words of Kiel’s coach show. ‘At first glance their name is not particularly exciting. But if you look past their name to how they play football, then you can see that they are a properly good team’, Rapp notes.

The way that SVE overcame their early season setbacks and came back fighting made an impression on the entire league. ‘We can be proud of how we overcame these setbacks and how mature our playing is now’, Carlo Sickinger also said in praise of this development.

There will be few changes to the available SVE squad. Marcel Correia and Wahid Faghir remain unavailable, but as it currently stands all of the other players are ready to join the field on Sunday in Kiel.

We are looking forward to an exciting, successful away game for SVE.
