SV Elversberg unbeaten in the fourth game in a row

In an even match, SV Elversberg and Greuther Fürth drew 1:1

Promoted SV Elversberg rremains undefeated for the fourth game in a row in the 2nd Football Bundesliga. Coach Horst Steffen’s team played out a 1-1 (1-1) draw against SpVgg Greuther Fürth on Sunday and finished the eighth match day in tenth place. Manuel Feil (9th minute) took the Saarland team into the lead. Branimir Hrgota (14th minute) equalised for the visitors, who are 13th in the table and still waiting for their first away win.

The only real excitement came in injury time, when the ball jumped to the hand of Elversberg centre-back Kevin Conrad. But referee Tom Bauer refrained from blowing the penalty whistle. “The ball hit my hand. I’m happy he didn’t give it,” Conrad said after the game.

This was of little help afterwards to Fürth’s coach Alexander Zorniger: “The referee’s statement wasn’t enough for me there. Every week: Some get the penalties, we don’t. It’s annoying.”

“In the end it was a fair 1-1,” said Fürth coach Zorniger after an “intense game”. His opposite number Horst Steffen had to agree: “Both teams had their pressing phases in the course of the game and therefore also their chances. It was an even game and a draw that we have to be happy with.”

For SV Elversberg the next match is on Sunday against in-form Holstein Kiel (1.30 pm). That is where the unbeaten streak is to continue.
